Adelaide “Laidy” (Hallock) Stomberg

Adelaide “Laidy” (Hallock) Stomberg, age 89, of Warwick, passed away on Thursday, April 29, 2021 at Kent Hospital. She was the wife of Raymond L. Stomberg. They were married for 69 years.

Born in Providence, a daughter of the late Richard A. and Edith A. (Waldron) Hallock, she lived in the Lakewood section of Warwick for most of her life. She was a Mayflower descendent and a member of the RI Mayflower Society. Mrs. Stomberg was the owner, with her husband, of Grandma’s House Grandpa’s Train Depot, on Warwick Avenue in Warwick, for the last 25 years. She was a life-long member of Trinity Church in Pawtuxet, and participated in its “Prayers and Squares” quilt program.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by four sons and a daughter, David R. Stomberg of Colorado Springs, CO, Elizabeth S. Blackburn of Wellington, FL, Kenneth E. Stomberg of Charlestown, Jeffrey R. Stomberg of Coventry, and Douglas A. Stomberg of West Greenwich; a brother, Richard A. Hallock, Jr. of Warwick; twelve grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. She was the sister of the late Alexis F. Jesser and George E. Hallock.

Her funeral was held on Tuesday, May 4, from the Barrett & Cotter Funeral Home, 1328 Warwick Avenue, Spring Green, Warwick, with a Requiem Eucharist in Trinity Episcopal Church, 139 Ocean Avenue, Cranston. Burial was in Pawtuxet Memorial Park, Warwick.
