Air travelers reminded of health, safety recommendations

The Rhode Island Airport Corporation (RIAC) is reminding arriving and departing passengers at T.F. Green Airport of the need to comply with state executive orders to wear face coverings in public settings, and of Governor Raimondo’s continued self-quarantine requirement for individuals who return to Rhode Island after domestic or international airline travel for 14 days after returning (public health, public safety, and healthcare workers are exempt). 

“Although a return to 2019 passenger levels is expected to take many years, we’re pleased to welcome back an increase in numbers of travelers at T.F. Green Airport as the summer travel season begins,” said Iftikhar Ahmad, President and CEO of the Rhode Island Airport Corporation. “We will continue to go above and beyond to take steps to keep airport facilities safe and appreciate the positive attitude of travelers who are taking their own steps to keep themselves and their fellow travelers safe and healthy as well.” 

RIAC public service announcements also urge travelers to be aware of health and safety protocols established by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and local health authorities.  Travelers will also see T.F. Green cleaning crews engaged in enhanced cleaning protocols, utilizing EPA and CDC approved disinfectants, electrostatic sprayers, and automated cleaning technology to efficiently and effectively sanitize escalator railings and other high touch areas throughout the terminal. Passengers are also being encouraged to check with individual airline policies regarding COVID-19. Updated links to airline specific COVID-19 travel alerts and new health and safety requirements, are now available on T.F. Green’s website at www.PVDAirport.com.

 RIAC has updated digital messaging and other signage at T.F. Green Airport in Warwick, as well as at other public general aviation airports throughout the state.  RIAC’s dedicated COVID-19 resource page also provides information on continued “enhanced cleaning” protocols including increased cleanings of restrooms and surfaces frequently touched by passengers. All public areas are disinfected on a regular basis using EPA-approved hospital grade disinfectants and electrostatic cleaners, as well as automated cleaning systems that allow personnel to focus on cleaning high priority, high-touch areas throughout the terminal.
