Backing Kendra Anderson for Senate

To the Editor:

From the time I met Kendra Anderson at last year’s Norwood Association Christmas Party I found her to be personable and engaging which is something I am looking for in the next State Senator from District 31.

Back in March Kendra called out sitting state reps and state senators for not finding a way to be in session during this pandemic. Outside of daily briefings by the governor, the State House has been for the most part closed.

Kendra also acknowledged the plight of the essential worker out there putting their lives and the lives of their families at risk by going to work each day.

From Kendra I’ve learned a lot about Green New Deal, the importance of taking steps to combat climate change and the need for a livable fifteen dollar minimum wage. Kendra took the time to listen to me after hazard pay was taken away for essential workers at my job. I was grateful to hear I was able to teach her a lot about the plight of the grocery worker.

Only by educating each other and with neighbors helping neighbors through unprecedented times is how we will navigate through all the uncertainty. Kendra is an educator, activist and longtime advocate for human rights who will be a bridge builder for District 31 and not a divider. She is eager to go to the State House and get right to work on behalf of the people.

There are obstacles to overcome and a lot steep mountains to climb but by seeing the forest through the trees and thinking outside the box with help from effective leaders like Kendra Anderson together we can make lemonade out of this lemon life has thrown at us.

Along with Ward 9 City Council candidate Zach Colon Kendra held a food drive with Westbay Community Action to help those in need during the early days of the pandemic.

I agree with Kendra that we need to preserve the environment. The Boy Scouts have a leave no trace policy which means when you camp in an area leave it in better shape than when you arrived. The necessary steps need to be taken in order to keep the planet intact for our children and grandchildren.

While many candidates like to hold indoor fundraisers and send out junk mailers most never read, Kendra and her canvassing team choose to go door to door each and every day. Even on the hottest of days and there were a few this summer, Kendra wasn’t giving away ice cream. She was making real connections going neighborhood to neighborhood knocking on doors and trying to find out what concerned voters in her district the most.

Norwood Village has a long tradition of accessible personable representation. If there is a problem I know I can pick up my phone and not only get a reply but a quick response to my issue. Don’t expect Kendra to disappear somewhere on Smith Hill after Election Day. Elect Kendra as your next State Senator from District 31 and you will get open forward thinking representation and someone committed not just to the needs of our state but our community as well.

To stave off stagnation state and local government needs new faces and innovative ideas. If you want more of the old guard and the status quo don’t vote for Kendra. Vote for Kendra if you want effective leadership. If you believe change is best when It starts locally vote for Kendra! What is needed here is a State Senator like Kendra who doesn’t just work for the people but can work with the people.

Kendra Anderson will bring to Senate District 31 engaged accessible community minded leadership!
