Barbara Louise (Spelman) Cole


Barbara Louise (Spelman) Cole, 82, of Warwick, died on Monday, January 13, 2020 surrounded by her loving family. She was the loving wife of the late William H. Cole, Jr.

Born in Providence, she was a daughter of the late Kenneth and Frances (Wood) Spelman. Barbara was employed as a Machinist at Union Camp. She lived for her family whom she loved deeply. Her hobbies included crocheting, taking care of her plants, particularly her Christmas cactus, watching cooking shows, and eating seafood.

She is survived by her beloved children, William H. Cole (late Barbara R.) of Coventry, Kenneth M. Cole (Doreen M.) of Coventry, Gerald P. Cole of Warwick, Barbara L. Cole (Kenneth Soscia) of Warwick, and Frances M. Masse (Marc) of Warwick, a brother, Robert Spelman of Richmond, a sister, Judith A. Dumont of Coventry, eleven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

The Cole Family would like to thank the dedicated nurses and staff of the Progressive and Intensive Care Units of Kent County Hospital for their loving care for Barbara during her stay there.

Visitation will take place on Friday, January 17, 2020 from 9-11 a.m. at the Urquhart-Murphy Funeral Home, 800 Greenwich Ave, Warwick with a Funeral Service immediately following at the funeral home at 11 a.m. Interment will take place at Highland Memorial Park in Johnston.

In lieu of flowers, gifts in her memory to the Pilgrim Senior Center, Warwick Senior Services 27 Pilgrim Parkway Warwick, RI 02888, are greatly appreciated.
