These are tough times for everyone, but especially for those in the restaurant business. Nobody feels this more than restaurant owners like Dick Moranto and Brenda Esposito of the Beach Café & Pub in Warwick. Dick and Brenda have been in the restaurant industry, collectively, for over thirty years. Over the course of those decades, they have dedicated their entire careers to serving a loyal following of customers, and they are as dedicated as ever to doing the same now, pandemic or not.
One longtime customer is Gary who has found his way to the café on a late autumn day for a delectable meal of Fish & Chips, one of Beach Café’s signature dishes. Gary raves about the freshness and size of the fish, and the flakiness of the thin, crispy batter that coats it in golden goodness. He has followed Dick since his days at Moranto’s Backstreet Bar & Grill. There is a fondness there that is hard to put into words in a time when restaurants are struggling to know what lies ahead in the weeks to come.
The Beach Café & Pub might easily be called one of Warwick’s “hidden gems.” It is a place straight out of a Norman Rockwell painting depicting a “day in the life” of America. Even though they are operating at 50% capacity now, there is still ample seating. There are even heaters set up outside to beckon diners to eat outside in the cool fall sunshine. Moranto and Espisito have done everything they can do to comply with the statewide regulations, from mandatory mask-wearing to constant sanitizing to restricted seating. They want their guests to feel welcome, wanted, and safe.
Diners who venture to this corner of the city will find classic breakfast, lunch, and dinner fare at the café, located within city blocks of Oakland Beach. The menu at Beach Café begins with such breakfast favorites as omelets, Eggs Benedict and breakfast sandwiches as well as mouth-watering pancakes, waffles and French toast. The days continue with a huge slate of lunch and dinner offerings. Diners can indulge on a wide variety of sandwiches, burgers, pizza, and crowd-pleasing appetizers such as Stuffies, French fries, onion rings and mozzarella sticks. There are Hot Wieners, Fish & Chips and hearty chowders. The late lunch/early dinner options at Beach Café are especially irresistible, from their classic Chili and Chicken Parm to Meatloaf, succulent pork chops, and so much more. The café/pub also has a full bar.
The café is OPEN FOR THANKSGIVING, starting the day at 9:00am. The full menu will be available, but be sure to check out their special Turkey, Prime Rib, Lobster Ravioli with Bisque or Baked Stuffed Shrimp dinners!
