Tomorrow Fund Stroll N’ Roll

The Tomorrow Fund’s 18th annual Stroll N’ Roll begins Sunday, April 18, at 10 a.m. in Garden City Center in Cranston. The event will benefit The Tomorrow Fund’s mission to provide financial and emotional support for children with cancer and their families during treatment at Hasbro Children’s Hospital.

There will be two options to participate in this year’s event. The first allows participants to physically stroll, individually or with a team, while wearing masks and social distancing. The second option involves driving along the Stroll route as a team or individual, with the option to decorate the vehicle.

No walk-in registrations will be allowed due to COVID-19 safety protocols. Registration forms can be completed or downloaded at tomorrowfund.org.

Registration costs $20 per individual or team roller/stroller. The fee is $20 for Tomorrow Fund families, which include a patient and immediate household members. There is no registration fee for children age 10 or younger.

For more information, call (401) 444-8811 or visit www.tomorrowfund.org.

Wendell Willkie, the 1940 presidential campaign and RI

David Amirsadri, a senior at East Greenwich High School, was born many decades after Wendell Willkie ran for president against FDR in 1940. Willkie, a progressive internationalist, would be a quaint figure in today's Republican Party. But Amirsadri argues that there were many similarities between that campaign and the 2020 race. He shows that history repeats itself, often in surprising ways. On Monday, April 19, he will share his theory in an illustrated Zoom program sponsored by the East Greenwich Historic Preservation Society. The free program begins at 7:30 p.m. To register, contact info@eghps.org. The Zoom contact information will be sent out one day before the program.
