Bettie J. Safford, 78 years young, passed away peacefully at her home in Port Richey, FL on May 26, 2021. Bettie was born in Harrisburg, PA to Walter and June Sites. She married her first love Jack on October 3rd, 1958 and they spent 62 beloved years together before her passing.

Bettie spent most of her younger years in Warwick, RI were she proudly raised 4 children. She appreciated simple pleasures like going to yard sales, antique collecting and planting flowers in her yard. Most of all, she loved her family and was the happiest surrounded by her children, and grandchildren. She was a friend and mom to everyone in the neighborhood, and was affectionately known as Mrs. Safford, Mom Safford, or Bettie Boop. Her home was where relatives, friends, and even strangers stopped in to visit or just to admire her yard. The door was always open and Bettie was always there to greet you with a smile.

Upon retirement she and Jack relocated to Florida where Bettie was happiest. She had a sign hanging in her home that read: “I wasn’t born in Florida, but I got here as fast as I could.” Bettie loved the sunshine and spending time by the water, and her personality fit in perfectly with the southern hospitality. Even in Florida her house was always full of neighbors, friends and family and she continued to have the most beautiful home and yard in the neighborhood. Bettie’s warm smile and kind heart will be missed by all who knew her.

Bettie is survived by her husband Jack: and son Jack K. Safford (his wife Esterina), daughter Theresa D’Orsi (her husband Robert), the (late) Robert Safford and the (late) James Safford. She also leaves six grandchildren Tyler, Derek, Nicholas, Jared, Connor Safford and Christofer D’Orsi

A visitation will be held at Thomas & Walter Quinn Funeral Chapel, 2435 Warwick Avenue, Warwick on Sunday June 20th from 11-12:30 p.m. with a service to immediately follow.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests you plant a flower or a tree in Bettie’s Memory.
