Blessed to have know Sister Mary Angelus

Posted

To the Editor,

It was with sadness to learn of the death of Sister Mary Angelus Gabrielle, RSN. Starting at St. Peter’s School on Fair Street, she taught first grade for five years, then became principal for the next 29 years at their wonderful elementary school, finally retiring in 2000. She continued to live next door to the church for another 17 years.

I met Sister after moving to Governor Francis Farms early on, and enjoyed her company and valuable assistance throughout my involvement with St. Peter’s as President of the Youth and Family Committee, in charge of the Commentators and serving on the Parish Council. She had an extraordinary ability when dealing with the parishioners and, especially, her loving students and teachers. The Monsignor and priests praised the work accomplished.

I am blessed to have been in the presence of this remarkable and beautiful human being for so many years.
