Beacon unveils 2025 spring All-City teams

This week, the Warwick Beacon sports department is honoring some Warwick’s best athletes of the spring season with its All-City teams. As always, it was a fun-filled few months of big-time performances as we saw plenty of athletes shine on the biggest stages. Athletes are selected based on factors including statistical performance, postseason success as well as leadership impact on and off the field, court, track, etc. Congratulations to all of our athletes! - Alex Sponseller, Sports Editor

Hunter Schobel proved to be among the state’s elite jumpers throughout the spring season for the Pats and put on a show at states, where he took gold in the triple jump then third in the long jump.

Vanessa Jones followed up her historic indoor track season with perhaps and even better outdoor campaign for Toll Gate. Jones took first place in the discus throw and third in the hammer at the state championships earlier this month.

Braeden Campbell was one of the leaders of the defending champion Hawks this spring season and proved to be one of the state’s elite players, helping Hendricken return to the playoffs and earn its second straight championship. Campbell secured the series win by hitting a monster three-run home run in the championship to put the game out of reach for Cumberland.

Madison Tuirok is the Beacon’s Softball Player of the Year after a monster sophomore campaign this past season. Tuirok batted a staggering .485 at the plate and also led the team in runs, hits and doubles.

Player of the Year: Thomas Hanson, Hendricken

Thomas Hanson has been a key piece to the Hendricken lineup the last two seasons and helped the Hawks secure a top-five finish at the state championships by leading the team with a sixth-place finish as an individual.

Ben Warr wrapped up a decorated career for the Hawks this spring season and helped them return to the playoffs and reach the semifinals. Warr was the team’s most well-rounded player and led the Hawks in assists and hitting percentage.

Player of the Year: Cornelius Zmed, Warwick Co-op

Cornelius Zmed burst on the scene this year, enjoying a breakout freshman season and leading the Warwick co-op to a big year in which it reached the Division III semifinals. Zmed grabbed the top singles spot in the lineup and thrived, also qualifying for the individual tournament.

Sebastian Nault returned for the Hawks this season and put together an all-state campaign, leading the way as the team’s most potent offensive weapon and helping the Hawks catch fire down the stretch and return to the Division I postseason.

Delanie Wheeler was Toll Gate’s top overall player this past season and was a force on the offensive end, where she led the team in goals despite missing time early in the year. Her leadership also helped Toll Gate surprise the state by returning to the postseason and reaching the semifinals.
