Christy Lynn Angevine, 69, of Warwick Rhode Island, to the great sorrow of many, has passed away on Wednesday November 30, 2022, after a long and hard-fought battle with cancer.
Christy was born on August 4, 1953 to her mother Patricia E. Carr (née Carpenter), and later adopted by Edward A. Carr, who both preceded her in death, alongside her eldest sister Susan F. Carr of Warwick, and dear aunt Jacqueline H. Tarbox (née Carpenter) of Providence. After Christy graduated from Warwick Veterans Memorial High School, she received her master’s degree from Providence College, and went on to further continue her education at Salve Regina University in Newport Rhode Island.
During her lifetime, Christy dedicated more than four decades to the care of others through her work with Saint Joseph’s Hospital, and Hasbro Children’s Hospital. This legacy continued in her active work with a variety of local and global charities, including the Rhode Island Free Clinic, the establishment of the Giving Tree at Saint Peter’s Church, and the African Promise Foundation. This list is not exhaustive as her charity work was vast and longstanding, and we may never fully know the true scope of her involvement, as most was done quietly and humbly.
Christy is survived by many who loved her dearly, most exemplified in her beloved son Ryan Angevine of Montgomery Vermont. And among her closest relations is Thomas Moran of Coventry, her faithful and loving fiancé. She is also survived by Mark Angevine of New Jersey, with whom she remained close.
Christy’s devoted siblings Paul E. Carr, Kerry E. Carr, Peter M. Carr, all of Warwick, and David B. Carr of Cranston carry on her memory. She is also survived by her nieces Alyssa Carr, Kailyn Carr, Courtney Carr, and Fiona Carr; and her nephews Jason Carr, Joshua Carr, Jared Carr, and Asher Carr. The list of those whose lives Christy shared in is far too great to include in its entirety, but beyond direct family members, Christy loved and was beloved by her other extended family members, and many, many dear friends.
In her life, Christy prioritized activities that focused on bringing people together, and strengthening social bonds. Perhaps most synonymous with her memory is her knitting/crocheting circle “Stitch N’ Bitch” where she and her dear friends convened to craft and chat. Baking was a passion of Christy’s, and her favorite way to send her love to friends and family year-round. Christy’s life was full of beauty in her relationships and through her love of interior design, fine art, travel, writing, and music.
Per Christy’s final requests, a Celebration of Life Ceremony will be held at O’Rourke’s Bar and Grille in Warwick, Rhode Island with a brunch to be held between the hours of 1:00PM-4:00PM, on Thursday December 15, 2022. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to any charitable cause in Christy’s name, or to Hasbro Children’s Hospital, as charity and the care of children were truly Christy’s life’s work, and continuing legacy.
