Starting June 19, beachgoers will have to pay fees to access Warwick’s beaches. The fees apply to Oakland Beach, Buttonwoods Beach in City Park, and Conimicut Beach. Fees for the beaches will be in effect until Labor Day on September 6.

Beach passes will be sold as season passes or individual tickets.

• Nonresident season pass, $40 per car
• Senior/Veteran resident season pass, $10 per car
• Senior/Veteran nonresident season pass $20 per car
• Residents, $5 per car, per visit
• Nonresidents, $10 per car, per visit

• Senior/Veteran nonresidents, $6 per car, per visit

According to Bev Wiley, director of parks and recreation, city season beach passes can only be purchased in-person at McDermott Pool from June 7th through June 10th, and on June 14th and 16th from 1 to 7 p.m. Season beach passes will not be available for purchase at beach parking lots. Those purchasing passes must show proof of Warwick residency with car registration or a state license or ID and proof of age or veteran status if eligible. Cash, check, or money order made out to the City of Warwick will be accepted.

The season passes provide access to all city beaches. Individual day passes can be purchased at city beaches. City beaches will be open from sunrise to sunset, with lifeguards on duty.

Rocky Point Park and Goddard Park, because they are state-run, do not have access fees. Goddard Park, however, does require fees for picnic tables, shelters, and grills. The cost to rent a picnic table for the day is $2, picnic shelters include 10 tables and 2 grills and can be rented for $50 per day, and fields can be rented for $8 per day.

According to Wiley, the city is still recruiting for lifeguards and beach fee collectors, and will be until the positions are filled. The applications can be found at www.warwickri.gov/personnel-department/pages/employment-opportunities.

Lifeguards are needed for all city indoor and outdoor swimming facilities. There is no residency requirement, but applicants must be at least 16 years old and bring a photo ID with verification of birth to apply. Lifeguard certification cards must be original, up-to-date, and not set to expire before Sept. 30, 2021. Both full-time and part-time positions are available for City Park Beach, Conimicut Beach, and Oakland Beach. Applicants must be able to work weekends and holidays. The pay rate is $13.25 to $16.25 per hour, depending on experience. All applicants must be pool certified and have Rhode Island Non-Surf Lifeguard certification.

The beach fee collector is a full-time position, 40 hours per week. Some part-time positions may be available. Applicants must be able to work weekends and holidays. The pay rate is $11.50 per hour, and applicants must be at least 18 years old as of June 15.
