Over the past two years we have seen some exceptional growth within the comic market. Books are selling for more than ever before, especially Marvel and D.C. comics. But within the world of superhero comics there has been a huge uptick in interest surrounding female hero and villain characters. Captain Marvel, Gamora, Nebula, Pepper Potts, and the entire strong women of Marvel cast have been inspiring young ladies on the silver screen over the past decade. It’s easy to see why there is heightened interest in their related comic books today. However, before the MCU and the modern renditions of these Marvel characters, the credit is due to D.C. for creating the original group of bad to the bone women. Hawk Girl and Wonder Woman date back to 1940 and 1941 respectively, and Poison Ivy, Batgirl, Supergirl, Lois Lane, Black Canary, Star Sapphire, and the list goes on date back to the early Silver Age. All of these characters and their related comics are white hot in the marketplace today. If there was ever a time to sell, now is the time.

When it comes to selling your comic collection the best choice you can make is to work with an auction house on consignment. With comics you need to spend money to make it, and having the proper books cleaned, pressed, and graded is necessary to maximize their value. We do that for you. If you sell your books outright, you are selling yourself short. This past Saturday at Bruneau & Co. Auctioneers we hosted our Winter Comic, TCG, and Toy auction with an all-star female lead auction. Both Poison Ivy and Batgirl set records for their respective grades. These were just a few items of interest out of the 427 lots offered in the auction. If you ever need it, we are here to help you.
