Travelers in Warwick will be thrilled to find a culinary gem at the end of a long, windy detour off the main strip of West Shore Road. The glistening waters of Warwick Cove beckon those travelers to follow that road until they discover County Cork Irish Pub. The pub is a local favorite for newcomers and loyal customers alike – it is the PERFECT place to relax, feast and let the cool ocean breeze carry all your worries away!
County Cork Irish Pub is just this, an authentic pub whose owner, Cora McAuliffe, heralds from the real County Cork in the far-off island of Ireland. Cora has poured her whole heart and soul into this cozy neighborhood refuge where customers will always find her smile, her hospitality, and the friendly staff who she surrounds herself with. Diners are welcomed with the traditional Irish greeting, “Saliente”, as they enter the pub, and when they leave, they feel like a part of the “pub family.”
During the recent shutdown, County Cork had to make some changes to the way they it has conducted business since it first opened in 2012. Masks are now mandatory for service, and social distancing is enforced. Indoor dining has resumed, but with only 50% capacity. Reservations are now REQUIRED (a quick call is all that is needed!) The barstools that are tucked up against the pub’s polished mahogany bar are now temporarily “off-limits.”
Despite these changes, however, there is much that HASN’T changed at County Cork! Alcohol is still served from the bar, including those tall 20 oz. pours of Guinness! The colorful picnic tables and round tables are still spread out across the sun-bathed terrace, overlooking the cove. The waitstaff are still ready to serve you with a smile.
The most important thing of all is that the menu at the pub is still packed with delicious and hearty meals, in fact, there are even two NEW options to be found, including delicately-battered Calamari (Rhode Island’s signature dish) and a crisp, fresh Chef Salad. The popular favorites are still available from the kitchen of Chef Ken. Juicy burgers (from their Swiss Mushroom Melt to their Jalapeno burger), succulent sandwiches (from their Rib Eye Steak, Corned Beef and Fish to their Grilled Chicken Sandwiches), and wraps (Buffalo Chicken and Chicken Salad). Summery salads and New England Clam Chowder. Fish & Chips are served every day!
There is a long list of mouth-watering starters including RI Saugies served with French fries, green beans and coleslaw! Don’t forget the Guinness Irish Stew and Rib Eye steak entrees! Everything is made-to-order, just as it always has been.
