Darlene E. (Fortune) Carvalho, age 64, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday, November 29, 2022. She was the loving wife of the late Richard Carvalho. Born in Providence, Darlene was a daughter of the late Virginia (Marsh) Fortune and Arthur D. Barber, Jr.
Darlene worked as a mortgage lender for Citizens Bank for many years. She cherished the time spent with her children and grandchildren.
She was the beloved mother of Kristine E. Giarrusso (husband, Mathew) and Jason R. Carvalho; devoted grandmother of Alexander and Kaylin Giarrusso; sister of Gerald Jr., Cheryl, Virginia, Terrance, and the late Beverly, Barbara, Richard, Raymond, and Peter. Darlene also leaves Debbie Spatcher, her best friend in the world for over 30 years, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Her funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 3, 2022 in the Thomas & Walter Quinn Funeral Home, 2435 Warwick Ave., Warwick, with burial to follow in Quidnessett Memorial Cemetery, North Kingstown. Visiting hours from 4-8 p.m. on Friday, December 2, 2022 in the funeral home.
