Peter D. Davidson, 72, passed away unexpectedly on March 4, at UF Health Shands Hospital.

Peter is survived by his wife Marcelyn (Hudson) Davidson, sister Diane (Davidson) Svehlik, and brother-in-law Stephen Svehlik of North Kingstown, RI. He also leaves behind two children:  Melanie Davidson of The Villages, FL, and Phillip Davidson and daughter-in-law Megan (Carroll) Davidson of Walpole, MA. Peter was the grandfather of Landon and Carter of Walpole, MA.  He was the brother-in-law of Noralie Perretta and stepson of the late Wilfred Desmarais.

Born in Providence, RI on June 8, 1952, to Lillian (Therriault) and Arthur Davidson, he grew up in Coventry, RI, graduated from Coventry HS in 1970 and earned a Bachelor’s Degree from Kennedy College in 1974. Pete worked at FM Global Insurance in Johnston, RI for 37 years.

A devoted father, Pete rarely missed his children’s games or events.  He coached CYO basketball at St. Joseph’s (W. Warwick, RI) and baseball at Warwick Continental Little League, where he served on the Board of Directors for many years.  At Continental, he started the Challenger Division, a program that provides children with physical and mental disabilities the opportunity to participate in Little League.

Pete and Marcie moved to The Villages in 2014, and he quickly became involved in the recreation and social scene, playing golf and softball multiple days a week.  He found new enthusiasm for life, and his happiness was evident to those who knew him.

Friends and family are invited to celebrate Pete’s life on Sunday, July 6 at 5:30 at East Greenwich Firemen’s Club, 80 Queen Street, East Greenwich, RI.
