Debacle of a debate

Posted

To the Editor,

After watching the presidential de

bate last Tuesday, I've reached the conclusion that while we could once align presidential candidates with one of the two major national newspapers, the New York Times or the Wall Street Journal, those days are over.

Obama was the New York Times; George W. Bush was the Wall Street Journal; Eisenhower was the Journal; JFK was the Times.

The debacle of a debate between Kamala Harris and Donald Trump showed Harris's responses as reasonable parroting of the New York Times.  Unfortunately, Trump's were more reminiscent of a terrible tabloid, such as The National Enquirer.

Actually, parts of Trump's performance could just as easily have been mistaken as coming from the satirical Onion or, worse, from the purposely humorous Babylon Bee, whose motto is, "The definitive source of fake news you can trust."

As a lifetime conservative, I've always voted for the candidate that more closely echoed the opinions of the Wall Street Journal. With a choice in 2024 between the New York Times and a fake news tabloid, I will either vote NYT or stay home.

Lonnie Barham, Warwick

Yes, Mr Barham, stick with the NYT. That is always the best route for a RINO and the Deep State.

Mr Barham joins a host of other so-called "moderate" conservatives who love to claim their moral superiority to what they claim is extremist; their names are: **** Cheney, Mitt Romney, John McCain, Mitch McConnell, Jack Reed, Claudine Schneider... This year they have a real dilemma because to spite the Orange Man, they must either stay at home or vote for a total DUD, Kamala Harris, who just proved on the Oprah show that she has no wit or charm. As usual, the MSM never vetted this candidate and is entirely at fault to covering up this humorless, two dimensional woman.

I know this is the first time I have ever agreed with Mr. Barham and I applaud him for his opinion that it is better to hold your nose and vote for someone who you do not entirely agree with than not vote, or vote for someone like The Orange Man who is a danger to our country, a liar of the highest degree and a thoroughly self interested and unlikable man with a Criminal record.

Upon mention of the Orange Man to the Radical Left, they immediately erect a solid brick wall between their fantasy and reality, but it's worth a try!!

    1. "The Orange Man is a danger to our country,"

How is closing the border and unleashing the economy with gas, oil, coal & nuclear sources dangerous & unAmerican?

    2. "A liar of the highest degree"

Due to our own corrupt nature (which the Left will always deny), we have all been liars, but has the Orange Man perjured himself as has the sitting, senile President about his own son?

    3. "And a thoroughly self interested and"

Having been shot at twice, self interest would be in his best interest, but amazing and heroically, the Orange Man puts the interests of Americans above his own life every time he is in public, unlike the sitting , senile President, who hides in the basement.

    4. "And unlikable man"

When he speaks at a rally, his thousands of admirers chant “We love You, We love you” Is that someone unlikeable as is his very unlikeable and humorless opponent?

    5. "With a Criminal record."

Yes, he has a criminal record, by a very corrupt legal system in NY, but what was his crime- no one can tell you?
