Donald James Gustafson, 77, died Wednesday, November 24, 2021. He was the beloved husband for 55 years to Patricia M. (Loughran) Gustafson. Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Walter C. and Dorothy (Shine) Gustafson. Don was employed with the Diagraph Corp. for 30 years before starting his own company Apex Barcoding Systems 21 years ago. He was a member and past grand knight of the St. Paul Council Knights of Columbus for more than 50 years. He was a third-degree member of Warwick Council, a fourth-degree member of Wallace Assembly, and a former district deputy of the RI State Council. An avid boater, he was the captain of the Patricia Marie for 28 seasons. Don loved spending time with his family and watching his grandchildren’s sporting events. He was always the life of the party, loved singing, watching live music and being with friends and family more than anything. He is survived by his daughter Deborah A. Johnson and husband Raymond and his son Donald J. Gustafson, Jr. and wife Michelle. He was the loving Grampy of Kiara and Raymond Johnson and Jenna and Mia Gustafson. He also leaves his brother Walter C. Gustafson, Jr. and wife Meredith and was the brother-in-law of Margaret and Charles Papini, Eleanor and the late John Loughran and the cousin of Henry Fontaine, who was like a brother and his wife Dorothy. His funeral will be held Tuesday, November 30 at 8:30am from the Thomas & Walter Quinn Funeral Home, 2435 Warwick Avenue, Warwick with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10am in St. Peter Church, Fair Street.
