Donna M. Grillo

Posted

Donna M. Grillo, 53, passed away peacefully with her family by her side after a three week battle with the Covid virus, while many families and friends prayed for her recovery.

She was born in Providence, a daughter of Helen T. (Moreau) Grillo and the late Frank J. Grillo, Sr. who passed in 2015 and she missed deeply. Donna worked for Neighborhood Health Plan of RI as a claim’s examiner in the claims department for 19 years and had many wonderful friends at Neighborhood that she will miss greatly. She was a loving, caring and devoted mother to Richard and Araina Perez and loved Araina’s boyfriend Anthony Dalnas. Her children were the center of her world and she deeply loved them. They are devastated by the loss of their mother and friend. She lived with and helped care for her mother Helen who misses her dearly. There is no greater loss then the loss of a child and Donna will never know how she was appreciated by her family for helping care for her mother.

Donna also leaves her sister Lori Babcock and her husband Robert who she had a special sisterly bond. Donna was Lori’s maid of honor at her wedding and they were fiercely protective of each other. Her brother Frank J. Grillo, Jr. also had a very special bond and Frank was a great help to Donna when her late boyfriend Scott Dutra became ill and eventually passed. There are no words to described how devastated they feel about the loss of their baby sister.

Donna was a wild and free spirit, she had a love of all things nature and especially enjoyed camping, kayaking and being outdoors with her companion Keith Burr. She had a special love for all animals, especially cats and horses, even having her own horse when she was younger. Donna also loved to go running. The family would like to thank everyone who prayed for Donna’s recovery, they would also like to thank everyone who graciously contributed to the Go Fund Me efforts.

A visitation will be held Monday, October 11, 2021 from 2-4pm with a service at 4pm in the Thomas & Walter Quinn Funeral Chapel, 2435 Warwick Avenue, Warwick. In lieu of flowers, donations to Horse Play Rescue & Sanctuary, 143 Gilbert Stuart Rd, Saunderstown, RI 02874, will be appreciated.
