Christmas crash!

We all feel it. You get up the day after Christmas and look around your home. A tree with no gifts under it. Come November or December, you couldn’t wait to decorate. You brought the holiday bins into your house, so excited to decorate. You laughed and shared memories over each decoration…remember when? With joy and love you placed all the special things around your house.

Then came the tree. Whether it’s a real tree or artificial, there is a ritual that happens. Ornaments, that mark years of children and for some grandchildren! Finally, you have finished! The tree lights up your house, and all the memories of Christmas pasts were carefully placed to be enjoyed. The holidays were great. They were filled with laughter and love. Now as you look around and realize it all has to be packed up, it becomes a job . You must drag out the holiday bins. Slowly but surely, you pack up Christmas.

This year I did something different. I have four grandchildren but it’s easier for me to go to them for the holidays. So, I decided to decorate a little different. I love the ocean, so my tree is turquoise and full of ornaments that reflect the ocean. My friend Robyn helped me make most of them a few years ago. Starfish with glitter, shells, with pretty ribbons! Everything is silver and turquoise. This year I’m going to leave all my holiday decorations up until mid-January. I’m celebrating the ocean, winter, love and life! I have found that not having children around all the time has it benefits. I can see them when I want and decorate how I’d like. After three nights at my daughter, I’m not going to lie. I breathed a sigh of relief knowing I was going home to my space.

I might have even peeled out of her drive-way
