Dorsey, Yang shine for RIC

Rhode Island College junior Edward Garofalo (Newport) and freshman Justin Dorsey (Warwick) competed at the 2022 NEICAAA Men’s Outdoor Track & Field Championship, hosted by Bryant on Saturday afternoon.

RIC did not score as a team. Southern Connecticut won the championship with a team score of 170.5.
Garofalo finished 11th in the triple jump (13.48m). Dorsey finished 17th in the 3,000m steeplechase (10:31.57).

In upcoming action, Rhode Island College will compete at the MIT Final Qualifier on Thursday, May 19.
Rhode Island College senior Chelsea Yang (Warwick) finished third in the hammer as the Anchorwomen competed at the 2022 NEICAAA Women’s Outdoor Track & Field Championship, hosted by Bryant on Friday afternoon.

RIC is currently in seventh place (16 teams) after the first day of competition with a team score of 6.0. The University of Rhode Island is in first with a team score of 22.0.

Yang finished third in the hammer (56.58m) and finished behind two Div. I throwers.

Senior Trinity Hayes (Providence) finished fourth in the preliminaries of the 200m (25.20) and seventh in the preliminaries of the 400m (57.40). She advanced to the finals in both events, which will take place on Saturday.

Graduate Oluwafunmibi Yusuff (Providence) placed 13th in the hammer (49.79m).
Freshman Hayley Chartier (North Scituate) placed 15th in the hammer (48.41m).
