Eleanor Cynthia McGovern, 85, of Warwick, passed peacefully on Thursday, July 9, 2020 at Kent Hospital. She was the beloved wife of the late Robert A. McGovern.

Born in Providence, she was the loving daughter of the late Cosmo and Victoria (Sisco) Votta.

Eleanor was employed as a Bookkeeper and later became the Office Manager at Cedar Crest Nursing Home in Cranston until her retirement. She was a graduate of Bryant University and a Communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Church in Warwick. Eleanor also enjoyed ceramics, painting and crafts.

Eleanor is survived by her beloved children: Robert A. McGovern Jr. and his wife, Patricia of Hedgesville, West Virginia, John A. McGovern and his wife, Rebecca of Cranston, Karen A. McGovern of Warwick and Terrie A. Gibbons and her husband, Tom of Warwick; two brothers: Frank Votta of Vernon, CT and James Votta of Royersford, PA; ten cherished grandchildren and six treasured great-grandchildren.

Eleanor was the sister of the late Elizabeth A. Lavoie.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday, July 14, 2020 at 10 a.m. in St. Francis of Assisi Church, 596 Jefferson Boulevard, Warwick. Burial will follow in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. All State Covid-19 Guidelines are in effect.
