It was 2005 and this is what was happening in the world of entertainment:

The Rhode Island Philharmonic, under the baton of conductor Larry Rachleff, featured Dvořák’s Symphony No. 7 in a concert at Veterans Memorial Auditorium.

Trinity Rep presented “Moliere Impromptu,” directed by Christopher Bayes and starring Fred Sullivan Jr. as Moliere.

Will Smith starred in the enjoyable romantic comedy, “Hitch.” IMAX Theatre had a 3D nature movie, “Aliens of the Deep.” Ethan Hawke played a detective in “Assault on Precinct 13.” Ice Cube starred in the awful “Are We There Yet?’

Rhodes-on-the-Pawtuxet held a two-night Mardi-Gras celebration with Steve Riley and the Mamou Playboys heading the Cajun/Zydeco party.

Subway opened on Park Ave. in Cranston, offering “free food” from 6-8 p.m.

“Defending the Caveman” was at PPAC.

“Red Noses” starring Tony Estrella and Wendy Overly was at Gamm, which was still in Pawtucket.

“Sesame Street” was at PPAC featuring Big Bird.

“The Little Foxes” was at the old 2nd Story Theatre.

Fanny’s Fireside Inn in Warwick had Breakfasts for $1.95 and complete dinners for $4.45. Remember Mama Spumoni’s in Warwick?

Capriccio was celebrating its eighth anniversary.

Frank Garish and David Wagner of Cranston starred in ”Euripodes” at URI Theater.

Anthony Quinn starred in “Zorba” in Boston. He was living in Rhode Island.

“The Breakfast Club” was the big hit at the movies and became a cult classic.

REO Speedwagon was at the Providence Civic Center. Tickets were $11.50 and $12.50.

The Glen Miller Orchestra was at the Rocky Point Palladium.
