Some of the city’s youngest graduates held the spotlight last week at the Trudeau Center when 15 pre-school members of Crayons between the ages of four and five were cheered by their teachers and presented diplomas as well as gifts.

Established in 1993, Crayons provides high-quality early care and educational experiences within a safe, nurturing environment. As a result of the shutdown of early learning centers in March by the Governor due to COVID-19, Crayons' educators have missed the in-person interactions and communications with students and coworkers. A graduation car parade gave everyone the chance to say "goodbye" and celebrate students who are moving on to kindergarten.

"We are proud of the Crayons' Pre-K students and all that they have achieved, and we look forward to seeing them again to celebrate their graduation," Vice President of Children's Services Joseph Robitaille said in a statement. "We wish them well as they embark on their journey to kindergarten."

As one of only a few fully inclusive centers, Crayons is a nationally accredited program that serves as a leader in providing developmentally appropriate, family-centered programming for young children and their families. Crayons' programs include childcare, preschool, and therapeutic services provided by a group of experienced educators and clinicians. Crayons is accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children and earns five stars from BrightStars.
