Clouds Hill House Museum presents “The Art of the Fan” which will run from March 13 through May 15. Dozens of fans belonging to past generations will be on display. Fixed, cockade, fontage, brisé, and pleated fans of lace, paper, cloth, and feathers will be included with interesting and fun facts about fans. Reservations are required and regular admission rates apply.
West Warwick AARP Chapter is looking to expand their membership. Meetings are held at 1 p.m. on the second Tuesday of the month at St. Mary’s Church Hall, 70 Church Street, West Warwick. All are welcome to come enjoy a cup of coffee and chat with new friends.
AARP Chapter 2210 has planned a Clambake at Captain Jack’s and Foxwoods Casino trip for May 26. The Rhode Island chapter of the National Alliance on Mental Illness is now accepting registration for our spring 2022 virtual Family-to-Family course which begins on April 13. This is a free, eight-session educational program for family, significant others and friends of people with mental health conditions. It is a designated evidenced-based program, which means that research shows that the program significantly improves the coping and problem-solving abilities of the people closest to a person with a mental health condition. NAMI-Rhode Island’s Family-to-Family course is taught by trained family members who have lived experience with a loved one, and includes presentations, discussions and interactive exercises.

Distinctive Dance Etc.’s egg hunt for DDE dancers was postponed until April 10. The event will take place from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Warwick City Park (soccer field/behind dog park) located at 185 Asylum Road, Warwick.
Each participating child will leave with 24 stuffed eggs and the Easter Bunny may be hopping by. A sanitation station will be available and eggs will be “hidden” in the large field behind the dog park.

Join Tri-City Elks Lodge #14 for a kids Easter egg hunt on April 9 from noon to 2 p.m. (Rain date April 10). The event is for kids ages infant to 12 years old and will take place at the Warwick City Park – at the baseball fields. There will be music, raffles, food trucks and individuals can take pictures with the Easter Bunny. Bring a basket/bag for egg collecting.
The Tri-City Elks Lodge #14 will host a kids fishing derby on April 16 from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. Children ages five to 12 can participate in the event. There will be two age groups: one for ages five to eight and another for ages nine through 12. All you need is your own fishing rod and bait, and a fishing pole will be awarded to the once child in each group who catches the largest fish. Awards will be handed out at 11 a.m. and hot dogs, chips and soda will follow. Stop by the lodge (1915 W. Shore Road) to sign your children up!
Small Business Administration (SBA) New England Regional Administrator Mike Vlacich (Biden/Harris Administration appointee) will address the Warwick Rotary Club at its meeting on Thursday, March 31 at noon at Chelo’s on Post Road. The Chamber Orchestra of Barrington at St. John’s, led by Music Director Edward Markward, will present the fourth concert of its fifth season on April 24, at 3 p.m. at St. John’s Episcopal Church, 191 County Road, Barrington.

Join the Woonasquatucket River Watershed Council on Saturday, April 22 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Lower Woonasquatucket at River Sun Mills, 166 Valley St. Providence. This winter, the George Wiley Center is collecting donations for a coat drive to help keep people warm this season amidst the housing crisis.
We are collecting new and gently used clean coats, as well as boots, shoes, blankets, mittens, hats and hand warmers. With the threat of eviction and utility shutoffs, and the financial burden of the pandemic, many Rhode Islanders are in need of basic winter necessities to keep warm. Together, we can work toward solutions to the housing crisis. You can drop off donations to our office at 32 East Ave. in Pawtucket, on Wednesday afternoons and evenings every week! As always, you are invited to our weekly meetings on Wednesdays at 6:30, where you can take action for housing and utility justice, apply for rental and utility relief, meet members of your community and enjoy pizza.
BBBSRI has opened a new Donation Drop-Off Center at 993 Oaklawn Ave., in Cranston. BBBSRI’s main headquarters has been located on Pontiac Avenue for 12 years. With its headquarters moved from Providence this November, BBBSRI had to find a new location for its Cranston drop off center.
Come join the “Rocky Point Pacers” for a walk around Rocky Point every Tuesday and Thursday mornings at 9 a.m., weather permitting. They meet at the gate on Rocky Point Avenue. Get some sunshine and burn off some holiday pounds.
The Senior Softball League is looking for more players to join its Wednesday morning games. There are six teams that play doubleheaders on Wednesday mornings at 9 a.m. The season starts on April 27. All games are at City Park in Warwick on Asylum Rd. Registration is $25. Checks can be made out to Wed. Sr. Softball League. The season ends on Oct. 19, yet many members continue playing until mid-November. This is not a beginner’s league; it is competitive but a lot of fun. Be Kind RI is a new program that connects volunteers to their neighbors across RI through text alerts to coordinate food deliveries from grocery stores and food pantries. Be Kind RI is open to those in RI experiencing COVID-19 risk factors including seniors 65+, anyone with underlying health conditions, those in quarantine or isolation, anyone experiencing a lack of childcare, and those who would otherwise experience difficulty in obtaining food. Meals on Wheels of RI is in immediate need of volunteers for its Home-Delivered Meal Program in Warwick. Meals are delivered Monday through Friday between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. The program helps homebound seniors remain healthy, safe and happy at home.
