Francis D. Boynton, 86, died Saturday, August 7, 2021. He was the beloved husband of Carol A. (Simas) Boynton. Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Robert L. and Sarah M. (Mullen) Boynton.
Francis was employed as an Accountant with Accounts and Control for the State of Rhode Island for over 25 years. He also did personal income tax returns for 50 years. Francis was a wealth of knowledge and was considered a walking encyclopedia by family and friends. He served with the US Air Force in Korea during the Korean War.
He was the beloved father of Edward F. Boynton Sr. (Elizabeth), Steven M. Boynton (Sheila), Tracy L. Boynton-Gauvin, Kerri L. Boynton and the late David A. Boynton Sr. He also leaves his daughter-in-law Johanna Boynton. He was the loving grandfather of Edward Boynton Jr., Eric Boynton, Patrick Boynton, David Boynton Jr., Autumn Boynton, Christian Boynton, Tiffani Boynton, Amanda Gauvin, Savanah Rodriguez and Tyler Martin; great-grandchildren Bennett Boynton, Olivia Clark, Nora Laurie and Everly Boynton. He was predeceased by his sister Margaret Levy.
His funeral will be held Monday, August 16, 2021 at 9 a.m. from the Thomas & Walter Quinn Funeral Home 2435 Warwick Ave, Warwick, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Rita’s Church, Oakland Beach Avenue, Warwick. Burial with Military Honors will follow in the Rhode Island Veterans’ Cemetery, Exeter. Visiting hours: Sunday 2-4 p.m.
