Loretta Pauline (Verde) Furtado, 88, of Warwick, passed away on Monday, June 30, 2025, at home surrounded by her loving family. She was the devoted wife of the late Norman Manuel Furtado. Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late William and Irma (Pacifico) Verde.
Loretta graduated from Lockwood High School in Warwick in 1954 and received her Bachelor’s Degree from Salve Regina University, serving as Class President for three years. She retired as the Vice President of Greenwood Nurseries, Inc. A devout Catholic, Loretta was a parishioner of St. Catherine of Siena in Apponaug, where she served as a Eucharistic Minister, and Sts. Rose and Clement Parish in Warwick.
Together with her beloved husband Norman, Loretta traveled to many destinations, cherishing the memories they made along the way. Blessed with many lifelong friends, she especially treasured the time spent with them during their frequent lunch outings, always finding joy in laughter and good company.
She is survived by her cousins, Pauline M. Benedict (Blake), Eddie Coupe (Machaela), Melissa Butler (Derrick), Katie Coupe, Kevin Coupe (Lindsey), Matthew Coupe (Jessica) and Patrick Coupe (Tori), her sister-in-law, Dr. Dolores Furtado, and many cherished friends.
She was the cousin of the late Anne P. Coupe.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, July 10, 2025, at 11:00AM at Sts. Rose & Clement Parish, 111 Long Street, Warwick. Interment will follow at St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. Visitation will be held prior to the Mass from 8:30AM to 10:00AM at THE URQUHART-MURPHY FUNERAL HOME, 800 Greenwich Avenue, Warwick.
