Gas prices average $2.14 according to AAA survey

Rhode Island’s average gas price remains the same as last week, averaging $2.14 per gallon. Today’s price is 1 cent higher than a month ago and 53 cents cheaper than August 11, 2019. Rhode Island’s average gas price is 3 cents lower than the national average.

“As we move into the second week of the August, it is pricing out to be the second cheapest start to the month in more than a decade,” said Lloyd Albert, AAA Northeast Senior Vice President of Public and Government Affairs. “Gas prices have high potential to push cheaper, especially with many school districts planning for virtual learning. This could drive demand down in the weeks ahead as school starts at-home.”

AAA Northeast’s August 11 survey of fuel prices found the current national average to be the same as last week, averaging $2.17 a gallon. Today’s national average price is 2 cents lower than a month ago, and 48 cents cheaper than this day last year.
