Ginza – An Intimate Chinese Restaurant

Posted

Ginza recently opened at 736 Park Ave. in the Auburn section of Cranston, becoming the sixth Chinese restaurant within five miles of my house.

I think Rhode Island has more Chinese restaurants than China, and many of them, including Ginza, are now adding Japanese cuisine and sushi to their menus.

Ginza is a charming, intimate restaurant with an adjoining bar. They offer take out, delivery and catering in addition to dining in.

The basic Chinese food is like most, with the usual chow mein, chop suey, egg foo young, and moo shu.

Chicken, beef, pork and seafood dishes include what you would find on most menus.

In addition to appetizers, Ginza offers five choices of “Tidbits,” boxes filled with a variety of finger foods, all at $13.99.

I tried T5, which included a tasty spring roll, two huge chicken wings, two fried shrimp, and a generous portion of tender, juicy boneless ribs. It was all I could do to finish it.

Joyce ordered the curry sauce shrimp with a generous portion of hot and spicy shrimp and veggies ($14.99).

“All Day Plates” are reasonable priced from $10.99 with larger combination plates at $16.99. All include pork fried rice.

Also available is a large selection of sushi, sashimi and special maki for those who prefer Japanese food.

Luncheon specials range from $9.95 (Chicken chow mein) to Shrimp with lobster sauce ($10.95).

Ginza is open seven days a week. Monday to Thursday 11am to 10 pm; Friday and Saturday until 10:30; Sunday noon to 10 pm.

We’ll be back.
