Wiiliam P. Gladue, 93, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 11, 2024. He was the beloved husband of Marcia (Latham) Gladue to whom he shared 33 years of marriage.
Born in Bristol, he was the son of the late Louis and Blanche (LaVoie) Gladue. He worked for Kaiser Aluminum and Chemical corporation for 38 years until the facility closed. After his retirement he always stayed busy. Whether he was trying his hand at owning a greenhouse, taking people to doctor’s appointments, babysitting his grandchildren or doing chores around the house, while Marcia went to work, he lived the rest of his life taking care of people.
William, also known as Will, Bill, or The Great Baba, loved to travel and share experiences with the people he loved. He owned a cottage in Falmouth, Massachusetts on Cape Cod where he spent many summers with the Henderson Family. He would often travel to North Carolina to visit his beloved God daughters and their families. He and Marcia loved to take “Mystery Rides” and find quaint little towns or just travel to another state for lunch. It didn’t matter where you went with Bill or what you did, it was always an adventure.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his step-son David Walker and his wife, Nicole; step-daughter, Deborah Walker-Rainey, both from Warwick; God daughters, PJ Deschenes and her husband, Tommy; and Ellen Buening and her partner, Fred Crawford, and their families from North Carolina; sister, Lois Soares and her husband, Leo; sister-in-law, Mary Paula Gladue; cherished grandchildren, Zachary, Madison, Joshua, Nathan, Brady and Hailey. William was predeceased by brothers, Ronald and Leonard Gladue.
A Requiem Eucharist will be celebrated on Saturday, November 2, 2024, at 1:00pm in St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, 99 Pierce St. East Greenwich.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to HopeHealth Hospice & Palliative Care, 1085 North Main St., Providence, RI 02904 or St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, 99 Pierce St. East Greenwich, RI 02818.
