Gorton Luncheon

The Gorton classes of 1941-1955 will meet for lunch on Wednesday, Nov. 10 starting at 1 p.m. at the Crow’s Nest located at 288 Arnolds Neck Drive. The lunch choices are fried scallops, broiled swordfish, baked salmon, baked scrod, Caesar salad/ chicken Reuben sandwich. Each lunch costs $25. Warwick Symphony Orchestra Performances

The Warwick Symphony Orchestra will be presenting their Classical Autumn this November in Cranston and North Kingstown. The first performance will be taking place on Friday, Nov. 19 at 7:30 p.m. at Scottish Rite Masonic Lodge - Auditorium located at 2115 Broad Street, Cranston. It will also be taking place on Sunday, Nov. 21 at 3 p.m. at St. Bernard Church, which is located at 275 Tower Hill Road, in North Kingstown. Tickets for WSO performances are always available at-the-door,but also can be purchased online at wsori.org/performances; Tickets are: $15 General Admission, $12 seniors and for students with a valid ID. Tickets are free (but ticketed) for Children 12 and under.

 Equal Means Equal

The showing of the award-winning and New York Times Critics Pick documentary, Equal Means Equa>, will take place at the Warwick Library at 5 p.m. on November 8th. Sponsored by the General Federation of Women’s Clubs of Rhode Island, the film is a groundbreaking exploration of gender inequality in the USA, featuring top women’s rights activists and leaders.

A brutal expose of a broken system, the film re-ignites the dialogue on full equality and explains why the Equal Rights Amendment is needed. A brief discussion will take place after the showing of the film.

 On the tracks to a train show

Rhode Island Model Train Expo sponsored by the Little Rhody Division of the National Model Railroad Association will be held Sunday, Nov. 7 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Guy L. Lefebvre Community Center, 1277 Main St., Coventry. The show features operating layouts in N, HO, O and G scales. There will be select vendor tables. Tickets are $5 for adults and children under 12 and Scouts in uniform free. There is a $20 maximum per family.

 Pumpkin patch open

St. Mark’s Church Annual Pumpkin Patch on West Shore Road is now open through Oct. 31. Hours are Saturday and Sundays 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Weekdays the patch is open from 12-6 p.m. and closed on Thursdays. Stop by to get your pumpkins, take pictures, and support the ministries of St. Mark’s. 10 percent of proceeds will be donated to the Elizabeth Buffum Chace Center.

 Christmas Village Bazaar

Asbury United Methodist Church will be hosting a Christmas Village Bazaar on Saturday, Nov. 6 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 550 Fair Street. The event will feature the church’s famous Swedish coffee bread, vintage jewelry and antiques, themed gift baskets, homemade crafts galore, a cookie walk, baked delights and other yummies, freshly made soups to-go (vegetarian options), Christmas decor and more. Admission is free and masks are required. For more information call the church office at 467-5122.

 Pumpkin walk is back

 Wednesday yoga at library

Fine tune your yoga practice or give yoga a try with a Gentle Yoga class at Warwick Public Library on Wednesdays, October 6, 13, 20 & 27 at 7 p.m. Yoga instructor Linda Morse will guide you through essential postures and show you how to breathe. Improve flexibility, build strength, and feel refreshed and renewed. No yoga experience is necessary. Wear comfortable clothing and bring a yoga mat. Meals on Wheels in need of volunteers

Meals on Wheels of RI is in immediate need of volunteers for its Home-Delivered Meal Program in Warwick. Meals are delivered Monday through Friday between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. The program helps homebound seniors remain healthy, safe, and happy at home.  AARP field trips

From Sunday, November 7 to Tuesday, November 9, AARP is hosting a trip to Atlantic City. On the 7th, attendees will depart at 7:30 a.m. from the I-95 Park & Ride at Exit 6A, Coventry and travel to Atlantic City’s first casino, Resorts. Upon arrival, guests will receive $20 casino slot cash, $50 in food credits, and a casino show.

The bus will return to RI around 7:30 p.m. on the 9th. The tour cost is $269 per person for a double room, $259 per person for a triple room, and $369 per person for a single room. ESL classes at WPL

The Warwick Public Library and the RI Family Literacy Initiative host English as a Second Language (ESL) classes starting on September 20. Practice reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills in small groups. Classes are free and meet twice a week on Mondays and Wednesdays from 5:45 p.m. to 7:45 p.m. For more information, call (401) 455-8041.

 Citizenship prep classes at WPL

Prepare for the U.S. Naturalization Interview with Citizen Preparation classes at the Warwick Public Library. Practice citizenship vocabulary, learn the necessary civics content, and work on interview skills using the N-400 application form. Classes meet on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. starting September 25. Sign up at the library. For more information, call (401) 455-8041.  Bee-ginner’s Beekeeping

Looking for a new hobby this fall? Learn how you can start, maintain, and care for a honeybee colony by taking this online course. Whether you are brand new to beekeeping or have a few years of apiary experience, you’ll gain valuable insights to further your beekeeping hobby or business with this expert-led class.

Bee-ginner’s Beekeeping: The Basics of Apiculture will run from Nov. 1-15. The self-paced course takes approximately 14 hours to move through, and participants will have 2 weeks to complete the work at their own pace. Mt. Pleasant High School Class of 1970 reunion

On Friday, October 29, the Mt. Pleasant High School class of 1970 will be holding their 50th reunion at the Santa Maria DiPrata Society located at 29 Walnut Grove Ave in Cranston. Get a Job Thursdays

We Make RI, an organization that provides free manufacturing training, is hosting a series of job fairs every Thursday from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. at their offices at 200 First Avenue in Cranston. We Make RI offers job seekers a chance to meet with employers, get career counseling, resume help, and more. Some employers include Swissline Precision, Admiral Packaging, KB Surfaces, Warwick Hanger, and Hitachi Cable.

NAMI Family-to-Family is a free 8-session educational program for families, significant others, and friends of people living with mental illness. It is a designated evidenced-based program. NAMI-trained family members lead the course with presentations, discussions, and interactive exercises.
