This past week, I’ve been watching my 4 grandkids. It’s been one heck of a week! Lots of cooking, which I love.
Of course, I had to make my meatballs and artesian bread amongst many other things. Breakfasts, lunches, snacks, dinners. It’s a never-ending food fest. Then there were the drop offs and pick-ups. Dance, play rehearsals and Lacrosse. All in different places, stretching from Stonington, CT to Hope and Westerly. I’m doing this for 8 days. As of day 5 I have put 672 miles on my car. Each day after they got on their respective buses, I had to go to my home in Warwick. Then there were the illnesses. Two were home from school, one day one walk-in clinic visit, and two pharmacy visits. I’m exhausted.
Four children, all very different. A 9-year-old girl Sidney, very spunky and funny. Two 12-year-old girls, Savannah, and Keira. Savvy is very introspective, and Keira is all about fashion. Cooper is a 15 yar old male. I only see him when he’s hungry or wants to show me some weird reptile or bird he’s discovered in the yard. Between them they have 1 cat, 2 birds, 1 turtle, 2 guinea pigs and a rabbit. Oh, and let’s not forget the 5 chickens! They say parenting is for the young, and they are right. Don’t get me wrong, I love it and feel blessed that I’m healthy enough to do it. But at night all I can think is, Calgon, take me away.
Sorry this article is so short, but I have one home sick today and one that needs to be walked to the bus.
