James ‘Jim’ R. Hallam passed away unexpectedly at his home in Apache Junction, AZ at the age of 61. He was the husband of Lori (Vartuli) Hallam. Jim was the loving father of Alexander Hallam, Christopher Hallam and Jennifer Schjor all of whom reside in Germany. He was the grandfather of three who live in Germany as well. Jim was the son of Raymond Hallam, Jr. of Belton, SC and Maria (Fox) Hallam of Warwick, RI. He was the brother of Raymond Hallam III of West Warwick, RI, Scott Hallam of Bakersfield, CA, Dawn Hallam of Warwick, RI, Pamela Packard of Greenville, RI and Bethany Leger of Belton, SC.
Jim was a 1981 graduate of Tollgate High School and enlisted in the US Army before his graduation day. He then proudly served our country for 17 years during which he attained the rank of Staff Sergeant and actively served during the liberation of Kuwait. He was the recipient of the Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Armed Forces Service Medal, NATO Medal, German Army Marksmanship Badge, National Defense Service Medal, Southwest Asia Service Medal with 2 Bronze Service Stars, Army Service Ribbon and the Overseas Service Ribbon.
He was always smiling and loved camping and all animals, big and small alike. His horse, Zeus and dog, Nicky were among his favorites.
A Funeral Ceremony will be held Tuesday, July 9, 2024, at 9:30am in the Thomas & Walter Quinn Funeral Chapel, 2435 Warwick Ave., Warwick. Interment will immediately follow in the Rhode Island Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, Exeter. Visiting hours are Monday, July 8, 2024, from 4-6pm. In lieu of flowers, donations to the RISPCA, 155 Plan Way, Warwick, RI 02886 will be greatly appreciated.
