The defending state champion Bishop Hendricken swim team swam to the Rhode Island Interscholastic League Division I Championship last weekend at Roger Williams University, setting it up nicely for the upcoming state championships on March 2. The Hawks edged second-place South County by 25 points.
Tristan Jordan took second in the 100 free while Hendricken’s relay team of Jordan, Tristan Andrews, Avery Cover and Hunter Andrews won the 200 free. Hendricken’s team of Rocco Czaja, Hunter Andrews, Jordan and Cover placed second in the 400 free relay.
Cover finished third in the 200 individual medley while Jordan took third in the 50 free.
Hendricken’s relay team of Czaja, Ben Ranney, Liam Kelly and Tristan Andrews took fourth in the 200 medley. Ranney placed fourth in the butterfly. Czaja finished fourth in the 100 free, while Tristan Andrews took fourth in the breaststroke.
Hunter Andrews took fifth in the 200 free for the Hawks and Tristan Andrews took fifth in the 50 free. Cover finished fifth in the butterfly. Czaja finished fifth in the backstroke.
The Warwick co-op’s relay team of Miles Zuniga, Adam Hamza, Connor Salzillo and Ryder Tatarian finished fourth in the 200 medley in the DII/DIII Championships. The group also took fifth in the 200 free relay.
Toll Gate’s Katelyn Watson took second in the DIII 200 free, while Pilgrim’s Juliana Kavanagh took second in the 100 free.
Toll Gate’s relay team of Tate Payne, Watson, Sam Lin and Kassidy Roach took fourth in the 400 free.
Lin took fifth in the butterfly for the Titans, while Kavanagh took fifth in the backstroke. Pilgrim’s relay team of Kavanagh, Madison Ventura, Hannah Fitzpatrick and Abigail Killilea took fifth in the 400 free.
