To the Editor,
“Let us dare to read, speak, think and write.” - John Adams
It takes courage to do what Robert Cushman has done. In his recent letter, he has dared to question the wisdom of elected officials whose decisions may be leading us towards financial ruin. (“City heading for a major fiscal crisis”, Sept. 12) Cushman warns that current spending levels will require tax increases that could make it unaffordable for families tolive in the City of Warwick.
I think Mr. Cushman has raised legitimate concerns that merit a written response from every candidate running for office from Warwick. Agree or disagree with his analysis, they should each state their position on the alarm bells he is sounding.
I am certain the Beacon will print each response for voters to review. Any candidate not willing to respond in writing to Cushman’s concerns is not worth voting for.
A. H. Liddle, Warwick
