Mildred E. “Millie” (Morris) Helle, of Warwick, after a brief illness, passed away peacefully with her loving family by her side on Tuesday, April 8, 2025, at Kent Hospital in Warwick.
Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late Mildred Elizabeth Morris.
While attending Mt. Pleasant High School in Providence, she volunteered along with her friends as a Candy Striper nursing assistant at Rhode Island Hospital. After graduation, she worked at Coro Jewelry company, always enjoying the latest fashions of the times. Millie lived in Providence and Warwick until the mid-1970s, when she moved to Orange County, California. She began a long career with AAA as a Customer Service Agent, doing what she enjoyed the most – helping customers with travel plans and needs, and making friendships and socializing with her coworkers.
Returning to Rhode Island in 2012, she lived in Warwick at the Shalom Apartments for the past twelve years. There, she made many friends, enjoying their company, socializing, and providing rides and help to others. She was blessed with her dear friend at Shalom, John “Jack” Hultquist, spending time together with daily activities, dinners, visiting and outings, and heartfelt companionship over the past five years.
Millie was an active member and familiar face of the Pilgrim Senior Center in Warwick, making many friends and especially enjoying her years-long membership in the Poker League. She rarely missed a game or gathering, driving herself there twice a week up until this past month. She will truly be missed and thought of by all her friends and acquaintances at Shalom and Pilgrim.
Millie was the mother of the late Michael Sullivan (Coreen) of Fairhaven, MA, and is survived by her two sons, Stephen Sullivan (Cathy) of Warwick, and Chris Sullivan (Lisa) of Garden Grove, CA, and her cherished 8 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Her family offers their heartfelt thanks to the entire ER, In-Patient, and ICU medical staffs at the Kent Hospital, along with the entire staff at the Kent Regency Rehab Center, for the attentive, kind and compassionate care that they provided to Millie in her time of need. It is truly appreciated.
Visitation will be held on Monday, April 21, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. in the Barrett and Cotter Funeral Home, 1328 Warwick Avenue, Warwick, RI, followed by a Funeral Service at 11:30 a.m. Burial will be private for the family.
