July 13 & 14, Wickford Art Festival will be presented by the  Wickford Art Association on Sat., July 13 and Sun., July 14, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Wilson Park, 211 W. Main St., North Kingstown.  The festival hosts 200 artists showcasing their fine art in a variety of mediums including: ceramics, wood, wearable and decorative fiber, furniture, fine jewelry, drawing, etching, glass, mixed media, painting (watercolors, oil, gouache, acrylic), photography, printmaking, pyrography and sculptures. Parking is available at Wilson Park and Wickford Middle School.  A complimentary shuttle will run from Wickford Middle School to Wilson Park. Parking is also available at the town’s public lots and permitted street parking on West Main Street, Main Street and Brown Street. Admission to the festival is free to the public. 


Now thru August 1, The East Greenwich Art Club Exhibit
will be in the lobby of the Gaspee Real Estate Partners, 333 Main Street, East Greenwich, Mon. thru Fri., 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. The current show is by local artists Tom Hutchinson, Jeanine Anderson, Ann Bianchi, Dan Lake, and Linda Sanfilippo.  Information regarding the displayed art is available at the location.

July 15 – July 22 Bishop Hendricken Track and Field will be hosting a series of four track and field clinics on Mondays in July beginning July 1.  These clinics will be conducted by Hendricken coaches and run from 6:30 to 8 p.m.  The clinics are free and open to all boys and girls entering the 5th thru 8th grade. Student-athletes are encouraged to bring canned goods which will be donated to the RI Food Bank.  Clinics are designed to be fun and instructional, and are scheduled as follows:

Mon., July 15: Sprints and Hurdles

Mon., July 22: Middle- and Long-Distance Running

Student-athletes can come to one clinic that is of particular interest, or preferably all four. Registration: hendricken.com/track.

July 11, Movies in the Park, ”DC League of Super Pets on Thurs., July 11, at Rocky Point Park, 1 Rocky Point Ave., Warwick.  Movie begins at dusk, weather permitting. July 13, The RI Rose Society Monthly Meeting, being held at Shepherd of the Valley Church, 604 Seven Mile Rd., Hope (western Cranston), on July 13, 10 a.m. to  12:30 p.m.  Extra water is required during the heat of summer to maintain healthy plants and blooms. In RI, sources of water most likely comes from the Scituate Reservoir. Local historian, Ray Wolf, will share the history of the Scituate Reservoir along with the lost villages of Scituate that were condemned by eminent domain to build a much-needed source for most of RI. Do not miss this captivating presentation highlighting a part of our Rhode Island history! Ray will also be offering his books for sale.  Every Saturday, Citizenship Prep Classes at WPL Prepare for the U.S. Naturalization Interview with Citizen Preparation classes at the Warwick Public Library, from 10 a.m. to noon.  Pilgrim High School Class of 1975 50th Reunion, “Time in a Bottle,” is currently being planned. Organizers need to find contact information for classmates as well as information regarding those who have passed.  Organizers are looking for email address, cell phone numbers, home phones and mailing addresses. NAMI-RI Offers Family Support Groups  The RI chapter of the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI-RI) offers free support groups for families and friends of loved ones who are struggling with their mental health. The groups are led by trained facilitators who also have lived experience as family members themselves. The group meetings last about 1.5 hours, and everyone who participates in the meeting gets a chance to share.  The other members of the group try to offer help and resources, when appropriate, based on their own experiences. Volunteer with NAMI-RI The RI chapter of the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI-RI) is currently seeking volunteers to facilitate our family programs in 2024. Free training is required and available for interested persons who have a loved one struggling with mental health issues. Together with our grassroots volunteers, we work every day to provide help and hope to millions of Americans. Volunteers are essential to the work that we do at NAMI Rhode Island, and we are always seeking enthusiastic people to help us achieve our mission.
