Posted

Homes RI, a statewide coalition of housing, health and education advocates dedicated to creating a substantial increase in the supply of safe, healthy and affordable homes in Rhode Island, will host its inaugural Homes RI Summit to address the current housing crisis, explore cross-sector solutions and set an action plan.

The summit will be held Wednesday, Dec. 11 from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the student union ballroom at Rhode Island College, 600 Mount Pleasant Ave, Providence.

The summit will celebrate the early accomplishments of Homes RI, introduce the Housing Opportunities Framework (an action plan to increase production of safe, healthy and affordable homes throughout Rhode Island), set the policy agenda and advocacy frame for the next three years. Breakout sessions in the morning will address the intersection between housing and critical topics like health, cultural equity, and education. Afternoon breakout sessions will focus on developing the public narrative and advocacy strategies. Speakers will include Chantelle Wilkinson from “Opportunity Starts at Home” national campaign; Annette Mann Bourne, HousingWorks RI at Roger Williams University, Jen West, Narragansett Bay Research Reserve and various representatives from additional partner organizations.
