Irene M. (Wylie) DeBlois, 100, died Wednesday, March 3, 2021. She was the wife of the late Robert F. DeBlois, and a daughter of the late George H. and Mary H. (Pallo) Wylie.

Irene was born in Providence and grew up in the Edgewood section of Cranston. Before her marriage in 1946, she had worked in the offices of the U.S. Rubber Co and the Atlantic Refining Co of Providence. After her marriage, she lived in Rumford before moving to Warwick in 1954. Irene worked as a secretary for 30 years at Kent Hospital. After her retirement, she was employed at the Alexander Calenda Eye Care Center for 7 years. Irene was the Past President of the St. Clements Rosary & Altar Society and St. Margaret’s Women’s Club of Rumford. She was also Past President of the Narragansett Bay Quilters Assoc., charter member of the New England Quilt Museum, and a member of the former New England Quilters Guild. She was a member of the Knit Wits, forming lasting friendships lasting over 80 years. Irene was also a member of “The Thursday Quilters” for over 20 years. She was a charter member of the Long Street Players where she designed and made costumes. Her family was very close to her heart. When her children were young, she served as a Cub Scout Den Mother of Pack #1 Buttonwoods and an assistant Girl Scout Leader. She enjoyed quilting, arts & crafts, sewing, knitting, crocheting, music and in her younger years, bowling, dancing and piano playing.

She leaves her sons, Peter R. and his late wife Kathy, John W. of Warwick, Christopher J. and wife Diane of Smithfield, Joseph A. of East Greenwich, Richard H. and wife Karen of West Warwick, Roland M. and wife Susan of Vero Beach, FL; her daughters, Roberta M. Calabro and husband Guy, Regina L. Crisostomi and husband Peter of Warwick, and Reneé F. DeBlois of East Greenwich. She was sister to Georgette A. Geoffrey of Barrington, Susan V. Allen of Salem, MA, and the late Ruth E. Mailhot. She also leaves several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A visitation will be held Friday, March 5, 2021 from 8:30-9:30 a.m. in the Thomas & Walter Quinn Funeral Home, 2435 Warwick Avenue, Warwick. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10 a.m. in St. Clement Church, Long Street, Warwick.
