James J. Mackisey, 89, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 20, 2022. He was the beloved husband of the late Carol A. (Williams) Mackisey. Born in Brooklyn, NY, he was a son of the late James P. and Frances (Hannon) Mackisey.

James served his country honorably as a proud member of the 82nd Airborne, US Army, during the Korean War. He was employed by Andrew Jergens Company where he worked as a salesman for many years before retiring and TTP, Inc. James was a lector at St. William Church in Warwick, a member of the Knights of Columbus, and youth sports coach. He was a die-hard Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots fan, and will be fondly remembered for “Football Sundays,” and his cooking. James cherished his grandchildren and great-children, teaching them to quahog, and spending time at the Buttonwoods Campground, where the family summered for many years. He loved the 20 years spent wintering in Naples, FL with his wife, Carol, and enjoyed listening to music and dancing. Jimbo’s enthusiasm for life will be deeply missed by all.

James leaves his children, Deborah Carlson and spouse Suzanne Coleman, Robert Mackisey (Presently, Lt. Brown University Police; Lt. RI State Police, Ret.) and wife Kellie, Kevin Mackisey and wife Barbara, Patricia Maccini and partner Marc, and the late Barbara Gallagher; grandfather of Patricia Carlson (fiancé, Cory Silva), Christopher Carlson (fiancée, Marielle Livesey), Malinda Richardson (Evan), Michael Maccini, Kelly Gallagher, Shawn Mackisey (Allyson), Laurie Mackisey, Nicholas Maccini, Casey Mackisey (Rebecca), Jonathan Maccini, and Aaron Mackisey; great-grandfather of Molly, Mary, Evan, Nora, Emily, Eligh, Liam, Carly, and Harry; brother of the late Kenneth Mackisey and Carol Powers. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

His funeral will be held at 8 am on Saturday, September 24, 2022 from the Thomas & Walter Quinn Funeral Home, 2435 Warwick Ave, Warwick, with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 9 am in Immaculate Conception Church, 237 Garden Hills Dr, Cranston.
