Janet Ellen (Newell) Wilcox, 70, of Warwick, passed away on Sunday, August 8, 2021, at Kent Hospital. She was the loving wife and partner of Wayne D. Wilcox for 34 years and the late Richard A. Santos who died in 1980.

Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late H. Allan and Elaine (Black) Newell. Janet lived in Warwick since 1997 and previously lived in West Warwick. She was a graduate of Barrington High School and attended Johnson & Wales University. She went on to work as a longtime employee of Power Service Inc. and R.I. Welding Supply Co., Inc. She was a former communicant of St. John the Divine.

Through the years, Janet enjoyed drawing, crewel embroidery, and crocheting. She and Wayne camped often; Dutch Island being a favorite camping spot. They also enjoyed fishing where she excelled at catching decker shellfish and on one occasion caught a propellor fish.

Besides her husband Wayne, she is survived by her beloved son, Christopher D. Wilcox of Warwick, her grandchildren, Owen W. Wilcox and Aleeyah Gonzales, Wayne’s daughters, Jessica, Brandy, Elisha, Venessa, and Cassie, her brother David L. Newell (Patricia) of North Kingstown, Scott Gagnon, and her niece, two nephews, cousins, and extended family.

In accordance with Janet’s wishes, no Funeral Services are planned. Interment will be private.

Funeral Arrangements have been entrusted to the Urquhart-Murphy Funeral Home, 800 Greenwich Avenue, Warwick.
