Jeannette O. (Martel) Roy, age 93, of Warwick, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her children, on Sunday, October 18, 2020 at Rhode Island Hospital in Providence. She was the wife of the late Norman E. Roy.

Born in Central Falls, the daughter of the late Rene and Beatrice (Desormeaux) Martel, she lived in Warwick for 63 years. Mrs. Roy was employed part-time as a sales clerk at the Filene’s store at Warwick Mall for 25 years. She was a volunteer in the gift shop at Kent County Memorial Hospital for over 30 years, and also served as a volunteer at the Kent Center. A long-time active parishioner of St. Kevin Church, she was a former member of its Women’s Club. She was an avid cribbage player.

She is survived by three sons and two daughters, Richard R. Roy of North Kingstown, Paul R. Roy of Cranston, Jean R. McGarry of Warwick, Deborah S. Edwards of Warwick, and John E. Roy of North Kingstown; 18 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. She was the mother of the late Norman E. Roy, Jr. and Ronald H. Roy; and the sister of the late Leo Martel and Raymond Martel.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday, October 22, at 10:00 a.m. in St. Kevin Church, 333 Sandy Lane, Warwick. (Facial coverings and social distancing will be required.) Burial in the Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery will be private.
