John Fernandes, 56, of Warwick, died Thursday, April 23, at Hospice Hope and Health, North Main St., Providence. He was the husband of Rita Fernandes.
He worked doing demolition and quahoging most of his life. He loves being out Narragansett Bay and watching the sun come up. He loves fishing and riding his Harley, with his beloved dog, Pugsy.
He is survived by his wife, Rita, his mother Dolores (Burns) Counterman, Warwick, two daughters, Brittany Buttle of Connecticut, Suzanne Marble Of Mansfield, Pennsylvania, two stepsons: Antonio Gonsalves, Coventry, RI and Kyle Goncalves, Warwick, RI, brother Joseph Fernandes, South Attleboro, MA, sisters Diane Thomas, Woodbury, Minnesota and Maria Wollen, Cumberland, RI. In addition, three grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. He also leaves Pugsy and his cat, Trixie. He was predeceased by his father, Serafin Fernandes and his step-father, Richard “Poppop” Counterman.
