Marjorie Ann Johnson (Holt), 89, died peacefully in her home on April 13, 2025. Born October 3, 1935, in Providence, RI, to William Holt and Winifred Higginbottom Holt.
Wife of the late James G Johnson. She is survived by their children Barbara Peckham and Kenneth James Johnson; grandchildren Philip Albright, Kathryn Albright, Benjamin Johnson, and Emelin Johnson along with 3 great grandsons - Dylan, Ryder, and Carson.
Marge and Jim were married in 1955. They lived in Providence and then Warwick, RI, until 1973, when they moved to Orange Park, FL. They began camping when Barb and Ken were young, and it became a lifelong passion. Family vacations up and down the east coast provided many happy memories. When Jim retired, they sold their home and hit the road in a 5th wheel camper. Traveling the country, vacationing with their best friends Barbara and Vic Persson and taking their grandchildren on memorable adventures.
After settling in St Augustine, Marge became a member of Shores Methodist Church and was an active member of the Women’s Circle. She went on mission trips to Appalachia, volunteered at the food pantry, baked cookies for and helped with the kid’s afterschool program, cooked for Port in the Storm and participated in many other church activities and missions. She was also a volunteer at Flagler Hospital. Marge loved to read, to knit and to quilt and stitch gifts her family continues to treasure.
The family will have a private graveside service on May 2nd.
