Johnston residents in need will receive Thanksgiving Day baskets. This was a combination from two local nonprofits; Spirit of Hope and The Pannese Society. The project began by funding the project. You can thank State Representatives Edward Cardillo and Deborah Fellela for funding some of this project with state grants, along with donations we received. This is state grant funding given to Spirit of Hope and The Pannese Society, who intern supports the Town of Johnston.

We purchase the food, assemble the baskets and deliver them to the churches. This project is done every year and the more donations we receive; the more baskets we can do. We are providing 50 baskets with a value of $40.00 each. Both parishes will issue the baskets to those in need, who live in Johnston. You must provide a Johnston ID to qualify.

The Pannese Society donated $15.00 gift cards from Price Rite to purchase turkeys for each basket as well. We thank Market Basket for providing all the egg boxes.

Our Spirit of Hope volunteers are dedicated to helping those in need. These are wonderful people that put their time aside to help raise funding, assemble and deliver the baskets. Good volunteers are very hard to get and these people are very dedicated! Please go to our website to see what we do in Rhode Island at: www.spiritofhoperi.org.

Our next project is getting winter coats. There is a big need for donated used or new winter coats. Please try and get coats to us before our next two homeless deliveries on December 14 and 22.

We also are providing and accepting donations and toys for the John Hope Settlement House in Providence. Contact Carla Spremulli at 401-374-5385 or email: cmspremulli@gmail.com for additional information volunteering or making a donation!
