Ada (Macaruso-Schoeninger) Kelley, originally from Providence, RI, passed away peacefully on March 9, 2025, at the age of 99.  She was the wife of the late Robert H. Kelley for 28 years.

Ada was born in Pietravairano, Italy on January 20, 1926. She was the daughter of the late Adelina (Borzacco) Macaruso and the late Joseph Macaruso.

As a young girl Ada attended Hugh B. Bain, Jr High school. After leaving school she was employed 8 years by Van Dell Jewelry, 10 years by Samson's Diner and by Riccotti's Sandwich Shop for 10 more years.

Ada had 3 brothers: the late Armando of Cranston, the late Gino of Charlestown, and surviving Joseph Macaruso of Floral City, Florida. She is survived by 5 children: two daughters, Sandra L. Bergheimer from Florida, Linda J. Schoeninger from Warwick, three sons: Alfred W. Schoeninger from Cranston, twins Robert W. and William W. Schoeninger, both from Warwick, and two stepchildren: Patty Palmieri from MA and Robert Kelley, Jr also from Warwick. Ada is the proud grandmother of 15 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and 8 great great-grandchildren.

Besides being an avid Red Sox fan, two of Ada's favorite hobbies were singing and walking. At the age of 16, she recorded 2 records and later in life enjoyed singing many hours of karaoke. Right up into her 70's, Ada would walk Blackstone Blvd, for a total of 6 1/4 miles, making the Providence Journal, and becoming known as the "Boulevard Jogger".

For many years, Ada volunteered at St Rita's as a Catechist for their Special Needs Religious Education Program, SPRED. But most of all, Ada was devoted to her family. Every Sunday afternoon pasta diners were enjoyed by all. She took great pride in her family and will be dearly missed.

Her funeral will be held Saturday March 15, 2025, at 9am from the Thomas & Walter Quinn Funeral Home, 2435 Warwick Ave., Warwick followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10am in St. Rita Church, Oakland Beach Ave., Warwick.
