First responders from the communities served by Kent Hospital demonstrated their appreciation and support of hospital care givers in a 20-minute parade of police and fire vehicles Tuesday evening on Toll Gate Road. Planned by West Warwick patrolman Justin Lake, pictured at right, the “light up the night” event had hospital staff lining the sidewalks. “I personally was getting chills seeing the outpouring of support from the first responders and how it moved our staff. Patients enjoyed the “parade” from their rooms and were in awe of the display. It looks like way too much spare time on their hands. This is the type of event typically for children, to see the shiny big trucks and police cars. This apparently all from communities that have nothing going on that would require them in service, so at least it's nice to know we have this kind of excess capacity.

Reading this article brought me to tears. This show of support was absolutely wonderful, and I join with 99.99 percent of the citizens in thanking our medical professionals and first responders for everything they are doing not only during this crisis, but 24 hours per day, 365 days per year. Every time I see a medical professional or first responder I go out of my way to thank them for everything they do to keep us safe and healthy, and I strongly request everyone else do the same. They are truly our modern day heroes.
And to the ignorant fools making derogatory comments about these medical and public safety workers, you should be ashamed of yourselves and know that there is a special place in hell waiting for you.
Thank you again medical workers and first responders from the bottom of my heart.

Continuing my prior comment: This spectacle comes across as a show of self adulation. If anyone wanted to truly show appreciation, the best way is to donate all that spare time and diesel fuel to something productive. Who would have witnessed this? The Beacon was obviously notified. Meanwhile, at the hospital, did they announce over the intercom “parade at 5:00, everyone out in the parking lot” ? The spectators look like a few people caught on smoke break. We were previously told Kent wanted a rebranding. This spectacle is also a good way to kick start that.

Just when the Beacon comment section was beginning to regain some of it's decency and civility after the removal of Simoneau, it looks like that poor excuse for a human has passed the insensitive loser torch over to "bill 123". Instead of bashing the police officers and firefighters for their heartwarming show of support, and bashing the healthcare workers who he accused of being on their smoke break, maybe he could use his spare time more productively and go and volunteer his services at one of the nursing homes that has been ravaged by this horrific virus. Or better still "bill 123", use your energy to spew your hatred at the family members of the deceased who were helped by these police officers, firefighters, and hospital workers.

Here is what I see. In the 3rd photo I see 2 West Greenwich police officers standing 2 feet apart in direct violation of the executive order pertaining to social distancing with no masks on. What message does that send?
In the third photo I see 3 if not 4 firefighters standing at the third engine from the front, all in close proximity with no masks on, in direct violation of the executive order pertaining to social distancing with no masks on. What message does that send?
In the third photo I see behind the 4th piece of apparatus at the white rescue, a firefighter with no mask on leaning into the cab of the vehicle chatting with another first responder in direct violation of the executive order pertaining to social distancing with no masks on. What message does that send?
Maybe Daydreamer can justify why it is OK for these people to knowingly violate the "common sense" executive order, especially in front of a hospital. What message does that send? To me it is a question as whether or not the first responders aka firefighters in these photos, actions are putting the public at risk as they are caught on camera violating an executive order that has been given by every governor in the US.
Let's see if Daydreamer can stick to the subject and cognitively answer that question without casting insults or making excuses.

Leave it to the felon gasoline dumper/animal gasser/funeral crasher to attack the brave and dedicated first responders who took part in this show of support for the patients and medical professionals at Kent County Hospital. Instead of praising and supporting them, he makes foolish comments based upon a picture with no frame of reference to estimate distances between individuals.
Here's an idea for you felon-instead of bashing these dedicated individuals, why don't you take a ride to Miriam Hospital where a Pawtucket firefighter is fighting for his life in intensive care after contracting the Corona virus in the line of duty, and disparage him and his family, and when you're done there, take the short ride up to Boston and visit the funeral home where the Boston police officer who also contracted the Corona virus in the line of duty and now lays in a casket. You can even take that opportunity to yell at and harass his grieving family as you did at the recent funeral of a Warwick city worker.
As you're bashing and criticizing these dedicated first responders who are risking their lives every day, be sure to also criticize them for wasting gasoline and diesel fuel while taking part in makeshift parades that are lifting the spirits of young children and honoring and supporting medical professionals who are out on the front lines saving lives while you sit at home behind your computer keyboard posting disgusting comments like the true coward you are,
This is a time to be supporting and thanking our first responders-not tearing them down. You should be ashamed of yourself.

As for the non essential captain as of TODAY the Govenor’s executive order is mandatory face masks.
When these pictures that you ever so dissected and blew up to once again disparage first responders face masks were recommended in public not mandatory!!
No longer will the non essential captain stand at a podium and call first responders names and ridicule them as he’s done countless times.
The platform that Merolla, Ladocuer and even Solomon gave you is gone. Sure you can spew your venom but they should shut you down immediately!
On television tonight is a huge concert with many artists some which you make like and others not so much. The point is, it’s a concert for First Responders and Health Care workers who are on the front lines not at home acting tough like yourself.
As educated voter started step up volunteer to go on the front line but you won’t.
Let’s hope yourself or your loved ones don’t catch this virus but if any of you do who do you call for help ?
Your doctor to get tested, then FD to transport and nurses and doctors to care for you.

Here's an idea for the first responders and medical professionals: The next time they organize a parade to help boost the spirits of hospital workers and patients fighting for their lives, please invite captain criminal, Stacia, and Simoneau so they can stand on the sidewalk and instead of clapping and showing their appreciation, they can stand there and make obscene gestures at the first responders. After they're done getting their jollies, those three pieces of $#!* can car pool together and go to the funeral of a first responder who died after being exposed to the Corona virus in the line of duty and take pictures and harass the family members of the deceased person who lost their life in service to the community.
It's sad to see someone such as captain criminal making his disgusting comments about first responders at a time when they're needed and relied upon more than ever, but it's not surprising, given his psychotic and deranged behavior in the past.
And as far as going back to the podium, don't count on it happening any time soon captain criminal, and once you do get back up there, the city leaders and general public will pay even less attention to you than they did prior to this pandemic.

The patrolman is talking about not just the current situation, but about times in the past as well. His endorsements are his personal opinion, and he is entitled to it. However, he is not the only client of the hospital. I could also give my different opinion about Kent, based on a prior experience with the hospital, but it’s irrelevant for the topic. The significant issue here is the Beacon is giving him a platform, and he is making the kind glowing pronouncements I would expect to hear from a higher-level executive government official(s). It appears the higher-level officials are nowhere to be found. Why are those officials silent? The so-called “parade” reminds me of the private promotion ceremony for the firefighters. It’s essentially a private parade, on the public dime, with notification to a select few. While the intent may appear good, the implementation is not. We don’t need our government to be run by secretive central committees, like the Chinese CCP.

If this amount of apparatus has left its assigned geographical area and not proliferated a compromised condition of the residents, then clearly they are over staffed.

The Fort Myers Police Department paid tribute to hometown healthcare heroes working during the coronavirus pandemic, forming a heart shape with squad cars outside the Lee Memorial Hospital on Thursday, April 16.
Officers stood in the center of the heart, holding letters that read, “FMPD Thanks You.” The Lee Memorial Hospital called the tribute a “special moment” of “front line heroes thanking other front line heroes.”
“We appreciate each of the hard working medical professionals and wanted to simply say thank you,” the police department wrote in a Facebook post. “It was a pretty amazing and personal turnout and we couldn’t be more proud to work side by side with you, Lee Health.”

Dozens of Brickell and downtown Miami residents stood on balconies and sidewalks banging pots and pans and cheering Tuesday night in appreciation of the Miami Fire Department as they paraded by in an impromptu celebration of the first responders.
Starting at about 8:15 p.m., more than 12 City of Miami Fire Rescue trucks blared sirens and flashed lights through downtown Miami and Brickell.

Hunter Hand’s 8th birthday was set to be a small family gathering, without classmates or other friends, as much of the nation stayed home because of the coronavirus.
Instead, the bashful boy’s weekend celebration in front of his Palm Bay home turned into a once-in-a-lifetime that brought his parents to tears.
One by one, a small procession of Palm Bay and West Melbourne police patrol cars along with a Brevard County Fire Rescue truck and ambulance — all with flashing lights and blaring sirens — wound by the smiling boy to wish him a happy birthday.
“He was blown away and stunned that they were there for him,” said Skylar Hand, Hunter’s mother. The Boyscout, a 2nd grader at Lockmar Elementary School, waved ecstatically as some, practicing social distancing, dropped off gifts at a table across the street. "Thank you," Skylar Hand could be heard on the video saying as the public safety rolled by.
“It was just amazing. The world stopped but birthdays don’t. They made a child feel good on his birthday and that is a good thing,” she said.

What we have here is not “Bright lights” (whatever that was supposed to mean) but a publicity stunt. Media was obviously notified, and we get the feel-good promotional video. Result: embattled public agencies needing max tax increases to continue business as usual get some good press. Kent, who said they “need to partner” to survive, gets some capital as well. Doing this over the dead bodies.

NEWPORT — When Portsmouth Police Officer Bruce Celico saw tributes to healthcare workers at Kent and Miriam hospitals and Landmark Medical Center, he didn’t want Aquidneck Island’s only hospital to be overlooked.
So he, fellow Officer JeanMarie Stewart and Newport Police teamed up to organize a parade of first responders to honor the hard work and sacrifice that employees of Newport Hospital are making in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic.
“I just thought it was only right, since we have a hospital that probably anywhere from six to eight towns come to it. They need their recognition just as much as anybody else,” said Officer Celico, who lives in Little Compton. “I started bouncing some ideas around, and (Officer) Stewart had the same feeling that I did.”
They started making calls, and it blossomed into quite the cavalcade — 15 different fire and police departments, with cars and trucks from Portsmouth, Little Compton, Tiverton, Middletown, Newport, Bristol, Jamestown and the R.I. State Police.
“It’s grown into what’s probably going to be a pretty long and loud caravan of cars and trucks,” he said before the event. “We’re definitely going to make our presence known.”
He was right.
After they all met up sometime after 2:30 p.m. at the former Newport Grand Casino — “That place is vacant, so it’s perfect,” Officer Celico said — the procession made its way up Admiral Kalbfus Road, took a right onto Broadway, and then a left onto Friendship Street and into the hospital’s back parking lot. The sirens blared as the vehicles looped the hospital twice.
“Hopefully they’ll be spooked by all the noise and some of them will come out and see what it’s all about,” said Officer Celico, who was right again. Hospital workers slowly drifted out and, from a safe distance near the emergency department’s doorway, smiled and waved back.
‘Hits home’
Officer Celico said it’s important to show appreciation to healthcare workers, who are on the front lines of the pandemic and put themselves at risk of infection daily,.
“It hits close to home for sure,” he said. “My wife (Cassie) is an ER nurse at Charlton. She’s actually been out on maternity leave; that happened just as this whole epidemic started.”
In addition, his sister-in-law is a nurse at Charlton and his brother-in-law is the emergency medical services director in Swansea. “Emergency services run deep in the family,” he said.
On Monday, not only did first responders come out to show their appreciation for healthcare workers, family members of police officers and firefighters showed up to support their participation in the parade.
Little Compton firefighter Sam Hussey was greeted by his wife, Jessica, and 4-year-old daughter, Charlotte, who popped their heads out of their car’s sun roof while holding a sign that read “Stay Safe.” Jacob Vandal was in the passenger seat.
Officer Celico had family there as well. Cassie and their son, Liam, were hooting and hollering from a Jeep, while the couple’s newborn, Conor, was sound asleep in the back.
“Didn’t wake up once during the noise,” Officer Celico said.

WOONSOCKET, R.I. (WPRI) — The city of Woonsocket’s first responders saluted their fellow front-line workers in the health care field Thursday morning at Landmark Medical Center.
During the morning shift change, police officers, firefighters and EMS workers lined the streets with smiles to say thanks to doctors, nurses and other staff members.
“We’re very fortunate to have a great relationship with all these people,” Woonsocket Public Safety Director Eugene Jalette said.
Mayor Lisa Baldelli-Hunt called it a fitting tribute, describing the first responders and the Landmark staff as a team.
“It’s very heartwarming,” she said. “Camaraderie between them continues to grow due to the situation we are facing now.”
Landmark Medical Center CEO Mike Souza said for his team, it was a welcome sight as they keep pushing through.
“Really shown their dedication, perseverance, and we are all very proud of them,” he said. “Uncertainty definitely takes a toll on them. Having to go back home to your families after a long, tiring day.”
At one point, several doctors and nurses stopped to thank the first responders in return.

To disparage first responders, nurses, and retail workers is rude and insensitive, and clearly shows your lack of empathy and intelligence. People such as you get your jollies attacking these brave, dedicated, and hard working individuals, but you'll also be the first one to reach out to them at your time of greatest need.
Do the world a favor "perky", and keep your ignorant comments to yourself, and while you're at it, take a third grade English class and learn to use the words "accept" and "they're" instead of "except" and "there". You obviously did not make it past third grade, and your atrocious spelling and grammar show it.
