Kevin Allan Gilchrist, 71, of Warwick, passed away on Sunday, November 20, 2022. Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Edward J. and Frances M. (McAvoy) Gilchrist.

Kevin worked as a Railroad Machinist for forty years for the Mass Bay Commuter Rail, Amtrak, and for Teamster Local 251. During the Vietnam War, he proudly served in the United States Marine Corps and later served in the RI National Guard from 1980-1984. Entirely devoted to Veteran’s organizations, he was the Post Commander for the VFW Post 183 Robert T. Johnson/Gilchrist/Goff Post in Lakewood from 1993-2016 and the VFW RI All State Post Commander from 1995-1996. In June of 1996, he received a hat and pin at the VFW National Convention for his dedication and service. In his free time, he also volunteered as a Coach for the West Side Little League.

He is survived by his former wife, Catherine M. Gilchrist of Warwick, and their beloved children, Susan M. Gilchrist of Warwick, Kevin A. Gilchrist, Jr. of Warwick, Christine A. San Souci, and her husband Kevin, of Sterling, CT, his siblings, George J. Gilchrist of Saginaw, MI, Mark T. Gilchrist of Lincoln, and Claire M. Gilchrist of Warwick, his five grandchildren, Kevin A. Gilchrist III, Ashley A. Andreason, Megan E. Gilchrist, Daphne L. San Souci and Bradley M. San Souci and his one great-grandchild, Kevin A. Gilchrist IV.

He was the brother of the late John F. Gilchrist, Ruth A. Diko, Kathleen E. Perkins, Edward J. Gilchrist, and Lucretia Gilchrist.

His Funeral Service will be held on Friday, December 2, 2022 at 11:00AM at THE URQUHART-MURPHY FUNERAL HOME, 800 Greenwich Avenue, Warwick. Interment with Military Honors will follow at the RI Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Exeter.

Visitation will be held prior to the service at the funeral home from 9:00AM to 11:00AM.
