LARCENY

At 3:33 p.m. on Aug. 11, Cranston Police arrested Gina Russo, 34, of 3 Langsberris Ave., North Providence, on charges of Larceny Under $1,500. The arrest was the result of a warrant pickup at Fourth District Court. Russo was arraigned by the Justice of the Peace.


BREAKING AND
ENTERING

At 4:04 p.m. on Aug. 11, Cranston Police arrested Zachary Lavallee, 18, of 99 Hollow Tree Drive, Cranston, on charges of Breaking and Entering a Dwelling House Without Consent. The arrest was the result of an Arrest and Affidavit Warrant pickup at the West Warwick Police Department. Lavallee was arraigned by the Justice of the Peace.


VANDALISM

At 7:45 p.m. on Aug. 12, Cranston Police arrested Sergio Giron, 41, of 50 Birch St., Apt. 611, Cranston, on charges of Domestic Vandalism as a result of a disturbance call at the aforementioned address. Giron awaited arraignment.

At 4:56 p.m. on Aug. 11, Cranston Police arrested Melissa Cruz, 35, of 112 Murray St., Apt. 9, Providence, on charges of Vandalism and Disorderly Conduct. The arrest was the result of the Johnston Police Department turning her over to Cranston Police on an Arrest and Affidavit Warrant. Cruz was arraigned by the Justice of the Peace.

At 7:03 p.m. on Aug. 11, Cranston Police arrested Derrick Pimentel Velazquez, 29, of 133 Farmington Ave., Apt. 4, Cranston, on charges of Domestic Vandalism and Domestic Disorderly Conduct. The arrest was the result of a disturbance at the aforementioned address. Velazquez was arraigned by the Justice of the Peace.

At 2:14 p.m. on Aug. 10, Cranston Police arrested Lillian R. Piasecki, 18, of 35.5 Huron St., Warwick, on charges of Vandalism as a result of a disturbance call at 1104 Pontiac Ave. Piasecki awaited arraignment by the Justice of the Peace.

At 10:56 a.m. on Aug. 10, Cranston Police arrested Jake Hayter, 29, of 72 Eldridge St., Cranston, on charges of Domestic Vandalism and Domestic Disorderly Conduct as a result of a disturbance call at 72 Eldridge St. Hayter was transferred to Third District Court for arraignment.


OBTAINING MONEY
UNDER FALSE PRETENSES

At 6:01 p.m. on Aug. 11, Cranston Police arrested Christopher Pianka, 48, of 14 Grant Hill Road, Cumberland, on charges of Obtaining Money Under False Pretenses – Over $1,500. The arrest was the result of the Cumberland Police Department turning him over to Cranston Police on an Arrest and Affidavit Warrant. Pianka awaited arraignment.


DRIVING WITHOUT
A LICENSE

At 5:55 p.m. on Aug. 11, Cranston Police arrested Kastihuca Rollins, 28, of 197 Waldo St., Apt. 1, Providence, on charges of Driving Without a License (third/subsequent offense). The arrest was the result of a motor vehicle accident in the area of Cranston Street and Webster Avenue. Rollins received a District Court notice to appear.


WILLFUL TRESPASS

At 2:09 p.m. on Aug. 10, Cranston Police arrested Pedro H. Rodrigues, 26, of 17 Parker Ave., East Providence, on charges of Willful Trespass as a result of a trespassing call at 258 Montgomery Ave. Rodrigues awaited arraignment by the Justice of the Peace.


ASSAULT

At 3:35 p.m. on Aug. 9, Cranston Police arrested Isaiah Mattera, 18, of 10 Monument St., Cranston, on charges of Domestic Simple Assault and Domestic Disorderly Conduct. The arrest was the result of a disturbance at the aforementioned address. Mattera was arraigned by the Justice of the Peace.


WARRANT

At 6:30 p.m. on Aug. 11, Cranston Police arrested Robert McGuirk, 44, of 2020 Elmwood Ave., Warwick, on three Outstanding Superior Court Bench Warrants. The arrest was the result of a motor vehicle stop in the area of 1370 Elmwood Ave. McGuirk was transported to the ACI Intake.

At 9:29 a.m. on Aug. 5, Cranston Police arrested Alfonso Delgado, 43, of 381 Webster Ave., Cranston, on a Third District Court Bench Warrant as a result of a traffic accident at 1225 Park Ave. Delgado was transferred to Third District Court.


MOLESTATION

Attorney General Peter Neronha announced Aug. 12 that the former director of the John Rollins Recreation Center (Manuel Nunez, 44, of Cranston) was sentenced in Providence County Superior Court to serve nine years at the ACI after pleading to sexually assaulting a female victim under the age of 14 in 2021.

Nunez entered a plea of nolo contendere to three counts of Second Degree Child Molestation. At a hearing on Aug. 9, the court sentenced Nunez to 25 years, with nine years to serve at the ACI and a 16-year suspended sentence with 25 years of probation. The court issued a No Contact Order and Nunez is required to register as a sex offender, must attend sex offender counseling and is subject to community supervision requirements under state law.

In March 2021, the victim’s mother contacted the Providence Police Department to report allegations that Nunez sexually assaulted the victim, and he later admitted to detectives that he had sexually assaulted the victim. At the time when the assaults occurred, Nunez ran youth basketball programs in Providence, and the victim attended one of those basketball programs.

Shortly before his arrest on April 12, 2021, the defendant was appointed as the Director of the John Rollins Recreation Center, located on Prairie Avenue in Providence.

Detective Koren Garcia Providence Police Department and Assistant Attorney General Timothy Healy and Special Assistant Attorney General Ariel Pittner of the Office of the Attorney General conducted the investigation and prosecution of the case.
