Madeleine R. (McGarrahan) Maher, 83, passed away Saturday, April 30, 2022 at Kent Hospital surrounded by her loving children. She was the beloved wife of the late Robert Maher, Sr (Lt WFD Ret). Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late John B. and Madeleine (Donahue) McGarrahan. She was a homemaker to her loving family. She previously worked in bookkeeping and ran a home daycare. She loved gardening, crossword puzzles, reading, playing Scrabble, sitting on her porch, making stained glass pieces, photography and being anywhere near the water.
She was the mother of Paula M. (Rob) Farrell, Robert (Tina) Maher Jr. Sister of Susan (late Donald) Mycroft, Tacoma, WA; Sr. Jane McGarrahan, RSM, Pawtucket; John (Arlene) McGarrahan, Cranston; Fred (Patricia) McGarrahan, Brevard, NC; Peter (Alice) McGarrahan, Aurora CO.
She was the grandmother of Kayla (Rich) Sprague, Matthew Maher, Robert Maher III and great-grandmother of Luca Sprague., as well as her many nieces and nephews, her sister-in-law Eleanor Reed (Robert) and her good friend Ellie Reuter.
She was predeceased by her sister Martha (Donald) Anderson, and her brother Stephen and his wife Deb.
Visiting hours will be held Saturday, May 7, 2022 from 4-7pm in the Thomas & Walter Quinn Funeral Home, 2435 Warwick Ave, Warwick. Funeral and burial will be private.
