Joe McGrady owner of Fairwinds Marina in Oakland Beach will host the many contractors who transformed what was formerly the Warwick Cove Marina with new docks, a new bulkhead, renovated buildings and landscaping at a ribbon cutting at 11 a.m. today. McGrady is not the only one to extol the work that includes a new fuel dock. On a visit Sunday, Manny and JoAnn Perry, who dock their 38-foot powerboat “Moving Up” at Fairwinds have been with McGrady since he bought the place from John Williams. They love it. At the fuel dock Hendricken grad Cam Hughes, who says he couldn’t have found a better summer gig, rings up the “smallest” sale of his tenure – 85 cents to top off the tank. And Toll Gate student Meryl Brousseau hands out a double scoop cone from Parkay’s Ice Cream that is also part of McGrady’s venture. An American Airlines pilot, McGrady and a partner own a number of residential rentals. He recently sold Dutch Harbor Marina, reinvesting some of that money into Fairwinds.
